Another offseason, another lesson you'll refuse to learn.

dude may not even been able to get a roster spot elsewhere judging by the contract
it’s win for us too because he knows the locker room and playbook. I like trask as #2
Yet not even the Steelers wanted him. Instead of signing an unproven guy like Trask, they signed a guy who's been proven to suck in Mason Rudolph. They can't even bring in Trask to compete with Rudolph?! I wasn't wrong about the Bucs level of interest in Trask - $2.78 mil for one year is not a high level. I was totally wrong about the rest of the league. I thought somebody would give him $5 to $10 mil to compete for a job or hold a spot for a rookie draft pick.I was wrong again. Surprised I got to this faster than Donk. I thought Trask would have some offers at a chance to "compete" for a starting job somewhere. Instead he came back here with his tail between his legs making less than the punter. If he's going out to eat with the guys and the punter says "I got this" he'll have to say "Thank you so much!"
For that paltry contract we can be sure that this was not about Trask wanting to stay in Tampa because he loves it here. It was because there wasn't any interest anywhere. I think his pocket passer style of play just doesn't fit what most present-day NFL teams want to do. Hence, I can keep my "Trask Force" name.
It's basically a freak thing that Neither Brady or Mayfield has missed a game. Trask will get his chance this year I suspect, if only for a game or two, because the way Mayfield plays he's bound to get dinged up, hopefully nothing major of course.
the only thing fans are wrong about is overrating their favorite teams players
there’s only 32 franchises which means only 32 starting QBs. The NFL stands for not for long. It was never feasible to think a franchise, GM, or coach would hold their livelihoods at steak for a guy who has been in the league for 4 years and never seen material playing time. When you have first round pedigree QBs who have started significant games being treated like disposable garbage, what does that mean for a guy like Trask?
clearly it means his option were coming back to Tampa in the Ryan griffin role or out of the NFL getting into selling insurance business
Why would Trask get $10m?!?!?!
Mariota only got $8m.
Career backups still have experience. Trask has none.
Why would Trask get $10m?!?!?!
He wouldn't. There has never been a QB with no experience sign a deal for $10M/year.
It's yet another example of not really understanding how the league works.
Well even five mil would have been almost double what he got. Rudolph was horrible and got 2 years at $4 mil per.Why would Trask get $10m?!?!?!

Mason Rudolph has 686 career attempts. Kyle Trask has 11 career attempts.
Give me the list of Free Agent NFL QB's that signed for $5M per year with 11 career attempts.

Exactly this.
Well, obviously teams prefer QBs who have proven to be bad over unproven. Of the QB free agents signed so far, Trask is by far the lowest paid, but they all have experience.Well even five mil would have been almost double what he got. Rudolph was horrible and got 2 years at $4 mil per.

Sorry, kiddo. Was playing 18 at Bay Hill.
Besides, it happens so often, I have no way of keeping up.
Well, obviously teams prefer QBs who have proven to be bad over unproven
Teams prefer a back up QBs with experience for sure, but apparently no team sees Trask as a starter or even a developmental starter because he was there for the taking. Even Coen, who worked directly with Trask and has another Gator QB, chose John Wolford.
Honestly, even though I joke about the Gator fanboy love for Trask, he is a good back up for the Bucs and has looked pretty good when he's gotten snaps. Certainly good enough that I thought someone might take a shot, but nothing.
I like him as a backup for cheap. Great deal
Awful draft picks.
Trask was a 2nd round pick. Name a 2nd round QB who never got on the field on a four-year contract with the same team. And it wasn't because he washed out. He did OK in preseason action. It was because he was behind Tom Brady and Baker Mayfield, two very good QBs who didn't miss a start. Trask did OK in preseason action as well. I don't think you can have a list of players in his similar situation. Which QB has been a high draft pick and spent four years behind QBs who never missed a start? Never was traded or cut. Give me that list.Well even five mil would have been almost double what he got. Rudolph was horrible and got 2 years at $4 mil per.

Its not really the Bucs money that is telling. Its that no one grabbed him, not even as a project or a "big upside" play. Surprising to me
