While you always wanna be able to draft BPA we seem to now be locked into DE at number 9. New DL coach Jay Hayes recently met with Spence this week to gauge how he would fit our defense.Spence is a speed guy all the way with a good first step, but there is another speedy pass rusher with a lightning fast get off. That would be Leonard Floyd.Floyd is actually much faster than Spence. Running 4.6 compared to 4.8 is pretty telling. He is 6'6 and while he played at 230 at Georgia he bulked up to 244 for the combine and still demonstrated special speed/burst for his size. His best asset even over his speed is his rare, elite ability to sink his hips and bend around the edge. That, along with his quickness, makes him a natural pass rusher. While he may fit best in a 34, he could play the Von Miller joker role as a Sam that can blitz and play the run on early downs, and fire off the line on 3rd. Follow that up with another guy in round two like Johnathan Bullard or Carl Nassib,then a DB like Vonn Bell or Artie Burns in the third and we will be just fine defensively .
