Sidney Rice is obvious cut.........
Sidney Rice is so over hyped and over paid. He has only had over 700 yards receiving twice in his seven year career and has averaged 4.1 TDs per season. Plus, he is a serious injury concern now. They save about $7M by cutting him. I think he a gonner.Chris Clemons fell off this year. He is old and injured. They save $7.5M by cutting him. Cutting Red Bryant saves them $5.5M and I think they will do that. Those three cuts give them $20M in cap space. I think they try to replace the the players they lose through the draft and stay out of Free Agency because Russell Wilson and Richard Sherman will both need to be resigned soon and they have to start creating the cap space to handle that.
but does he have swagger?

Sherman is going to want Revis-type money. Keeping him will be difficult.

Yep. That's why it was incredibly irresponsible for Dom to give Revis $16M/yr when the other top 5 CBs in the league make $10M/yr. It's ridiculous and it throws the whole system out of whack. Fucks things up for everyone because we made one desperate move and drastically overpaid Revis. No way he should be making more than $12.5M/yr tops.
Stop crying about it JD. Shut up, the Bucs have Revis. Deal with it you big fucking baby.
We should do the rest of the league a favor when we are negotiating contracts with an elite player?Nobody did the league a favor when they starting signing mediocre and average QBs to 16-20 million dollar a year contracts.I hope Sherman gets 18 million just because!

I hope he gets 20 million with the Steelers and suddenly loses interest in football. And they can't cut him.
agreed... i think many here overhype Dom's cap proficiency... in my eyes he overpaid often. the reason we had a good cap position was the fact that we didn't have alot of players worthy of big contracts. i do applaud his efforts to prevent dead space, but that doesn't offset overpaying in my eyes.

Wait until they have to re-sign Russel Wilson. He'll be the highest paid player in the NFL. No way they can keep that defense intact and Wilson.
I think Russell Wilson is more level-headed than to expect to be the richest quarterback ever
I think Russell Wilson is more level-headed than to expect to be the richest quarterback ever
Why? He has two more years on his deal, I think. That mean's he'll likely get an extension after next year. He has a lot of wins and already a super-bowl in his 2nd year. Level headed doesn't mean he doesn't want to be able to retire after football.
Based on his trajectory thus far, I don't see Russell Wilson getting more than $15 million per year when his deal is up.
