Earl Thomas also has 1 year left on his deal. I'd imagine that they'd be more inclined to extend his deal before they extend Sherman's. And Cliff Avril can't be forgotten either. He has 1 year left on his deal.

I think they re-do the Revis contract before the season. Now that it appears he will be back to being the Revis of old, they will pay him less dollars, but some guaranteed $$$$$$.
Those three cuts give them $20M in cap space. I think they try to replace the the players they lose through the draft and stay out of Free Agency because Russell Wilson and Richard Sherman will both need to be resigned soon and they have to start creating the cap space to handle that.

Yep. That's why it was incredibly irresponsible for Dom to give Revis $16M/yr when the other top 5 CBs in the league make $10M/yr. It's ridiculous and it throws the whole system out of whack. **CENSORED**s things up for everyone because we made one desperate move and drastically overpaid Revis. No way he should be making more than $12.5M/yr tops.
If it's irresponsible to offer a contract with zero downside or risk financially to one of the top players at his position and by doing so, raise the cost of competion for the other elites at said position making it harder for the other 31 teams to build a competitive team under the cap then call me irresponsible, If we were struggling with the cap I'd say he isn't worth the money but whenever that happens we can let him go with zero cap hit. I don't think it was that stupid. As far as the market for CBs goes, it'll be out of whack for a few years but it will self correct. There aren't that many guys in the elite ranges for it to be too big a deal.
