I would die laughing if Gabbart trotted out to lead a running play on first down, then let Tom come in for 2nd down.
I know it will never happen, but it’d be wildly entertaining to see the media meltdown during pre-game, the scrambling of Pats defensive coaches, and the applause as Tom entered the field… it would be like a reverse curtain call.
It could also send a subtle message that the team is bigger than any one player.
Anyway, it will never happen, but I would enjoy the laugh.
