As Skull & Bones said, the DE, WR and TE needs were obvious entering the offseason and he neglected them.
I'm all for cleaning house, but I'm not sure how much of the above is on Dom and how much is on Schiano. There have been mixed messages on how much input/control Schiano has on personnel.

can you imagine a scenario where Schiano would turn down help at any of those positions? Maybe I am missing something, but the person most likely to be enamored with the guys we had/have at those positions is Dom, isn't it? Stocker, Bowers, Williams

I'm not sure he turned them down, but we picked up guys like Ogletree and Crabtree. It's possible he put higher priority on resources for other positions (Revis and Goldson).

good point
@ All eyez on me - is a fraud, that just can't be real, a real person yes but seriously....As for the rest, I've said this before if you want to talk 2009 he is dead man walking, if you want to talk other years it has gotten better and better. If you like him you give him credit on moving around the draft board and making picks, if you don't then Butch Davis is a genius. I get it, just remember Butch Davis was HORRIBLE at drafting in Cleveland. So, I am all for another year. I can't sit here and blame Dom for Ogleree but then not give him credit for Gholston, same would go for blaming him for Eric Wright but not giving credit for Lavonte David. In addition, as a person who has family in our military, Dom is awesome! He stays...
3 extended losing streaks: 0-7, 0-10, and 1-12.
I'm stunned people try to put this on the GM.
Yeah or 3 extended winning streaks...9-4, 7-3 and 5-1. He shouldn't get credit for that either.

Dom seems like a nice guy and I hope we can keep him in some other role on the team. I would be cool with that dawg. But I aint no fraud. Dom is the fraud as our GM. That's what I been saying man.

4-12 or 5-11 after five years of the job. 28-50 enough said. Dominick sucks.

Ignore the "mixed messages". This has been Schiano's show since he signed on the dotted line. It's amazing how few people here seem to have been part of or even observed a high level power shift in an organization.Look, when Gruden was fired and Raheem hired, Dom was in a very strong position -- everyone knew Raheem wasn't ready for the organizational part of it, it was a stretch to think he was ready for the coaching part. He was clearly going to need to grow into the "office" part, so Dom had all the leverage and basically did what he wanted. The Glazers were never going to overrule him in favor of something Raheem wanted. Even just standing in front of them making his argument he wouldn't be anywhere near as persuasive as Dom.At the end of those three years of being top dog, Dom's entire tenure, with the possible exception of Freeman at the time, looked like an epic disaster. MWill had disappeared, Freeman regressed, McCoy was a possible injury bust, FA had been a disaster and the drafts that were supposed to build the team had come up empty. It was a miracle he survived that actually. Dom did not clean the house at the end of the Raheem era, the Glazers did. Executives don't willingly gut what they have built like that. There are always people they want to hold on to, be it their stars or their pets. That kind of full house cleaning comes from people removed from the situation a bit, like a board, or, in this case, the owners. Just like the last time. When the house was cleaned Dom was left with limited leverage. As noted above, he looked like a complete failure at the time. In comes a new regime, recommended by the best in the business, with a guy with experience as a de facto GM. It's amazing anyone thinks Dom was in a position of decision making after that. I'm sure he was more than just the coffee guy, but the situation has completely changed. He's not the guy with the final vote any longer. And that is a good thing. The new regime has it's faults on the personnel side -- the Revis trade, pouring resources into safeties while letting a passrusher walk, for example. But they at least can seem to find people with some talent which Dom struggled to do. They will leave something behind besides a DT who was the ultimate no brainier pick, and a WR who was a steal because of his suspected character issues, not ability.
Actually he doesn't need to go. Dominik if a above average GM that has put together a talent laiden team. The coaching choices that have been made have been horrible. If Jon Gruden were the HC instead of Schiano with the offensive talent on this team (outside of QB) we'd be in the playoff hunt right now. Dominik is also very good at managing the Salary Cap and is a effective talent evaluator.
What a joke. I want some of your drugs. His franchise quarterback and all those picks on defensive linemen have yield only one good player. That's terrible talent evaluation. All Eyz is right, even if you give Dominick a pass on the coaching hires he's done a terrible job of building a roster. As Skull & Bones said, the DE, WR and TE needs were obvious entering the offseason and he neglected them. Same with giving us a viable QB if Freeman crapped the bed. Dominick's terrible at putting a winning roster together. Look at 2010, his only winning season and that supposed crap coaching staff won with Freeman and a bunch of other crappy players that aren't here anymore: Ruud, Stylez, Blount, Cadillac, Geno Hayes, Roy Miller. Dominick is a loser and a failure no matter how you evaluate him.
Clearly everyone is entitled to their opinions.
Yo, I am cool with keeping Dominick around in another role.
Yeah, he can spray the showers daily with disinfectant to avoid another MRSA breakout.

Exactly. If everyone would think back they'd realize that Chip Kelly was the Bucs 1st choice. But Chip didn't want to run his No Huddle Offense in the Florida heat. It doesn't matter that Dominik has brought in McCoy, Claiborne, Spence, Gholston, David, Foster, Revis, Goldson, Banks, VJ, Wright, Martin and Nicks. Some people only look at the negatives. With that kind of Talent there is no way this team should be looking up at a 4-10 season right now.

Outside of the guys who were already here, people want to give the credit for those pick ups to Schiano now. If he really is in fact the reason we got those players, then let Schiano be GM or president of football ops. But as far as a game day coach, Schi was overrated in college, and he's being exposed in the pros. He's doing nothing differently now than he had in his mediocre time at Rutgers - mismanaging games, failing or being too stubborn to make second half adjustments. At this point this leopard isn't changing his spots.

I agree. I was the only one here that mentioned Chip Kelly 2 years ago. I wanted him badly and was pissed when he turned the job down. Schiano said all the right things when he was hired but the wheels came off at the end of last season. He needs to be gone and maybe Dominik also. It's time for something new at OBP. That's sad because I actually think Dominik is a good GM. The coaches that he's been placed with have been horrible.
