Buccaneers were once again one of the worst-tackling teams in the NFL By Sander Philipse?@Sanderrp Feb 10, 2015, 2:39pmKim Klement-USA TODAY SportsFor years on end, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been pretty terrible tacklers. Greg Schiano managed to temporarily get the Bucs back into mediocre territory with some remedial lessons in basic football skills, but to no avail: the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were the second-worst team in the NFL in terms of tackling efficiency, according to Pro Football Focus' data. The Bucs missed a tackle for every 7.1 attempts. Only the Saints performed worse than that, as Revenge of the Birds tabulated. Which is slightly surprising given the fact that the Bucs actually played some pretty decent defense towards the end of the season. This pathological inability to just tackle people is a complete mystery at this point, though. The Bucs have overhauled almost their entire defensive roster multiple times between now and 2009, and they still rank among the worst almost every single year. It's like a curse. I don't know what's even going on now.linkSig Stats: Tackling Efficiency, DBsProFootballFocus.comSteve Palazzolo | February 10, 2015
We’re back with another look at the league’s most efficient tacklers from 2014, this time looking at the defensive backs. There’s probably no better way to stay on the field for a safety than simply being in the right position and making the sure tackle, something that often goes unnoticed and that might be a good thing for safeties. As for cornerbacks, everyone likes to talk about their man coverage ability, but tackling in space is a huge part of the job in the new, pass-happy NFL. Cornerbacks that wrap up and limit yards after the catch are essential as more teams get the ball into their playmakers’ hands in a variety of ways. Here’s a look at the best and worst tackling defensive backs from 2014.Top Safeties1. Danieal Manning HST2. Dawan Landry NYJ3. Robert Blanton MINBottom Safeties61. Dashon Goldson TB62.
