I agree with OP... the class was hyped after last year's was so bad. To me each of the consensus top 3 has serious concerns... not as bad as last year, but they aren't guys I'd be comfortable replacing Glennon with. It's unconventional - IMO Carr comes across as the best combination of current skill and upside; TB looks really polished, but is that his ceiling? Until proven otherwise I'll continue to believe Glennon fits the mold of what the staff wants. Maybe not skillset wise. But he has enough qualities that indicate he can get better and be good enough to win the way they want to win. You can watch the tape and reasonably say it would've gone different if he had anything resembling a supporting cast and offense tailored to his strengths. Add on how he was almost certainly coached "not to lose" and didn't have his footwork corrected (McNulty famously said he didn't focus on those kinds of details in QB coaching). Add that to the depth in this draft at positions of real need to a team retooling their roster; it's hard to see anything more than a day 3 pick being spent on a QB. Glennon's going to get a chance to show he can improve.
I don't think any of the top listed QBs and that stretches down to guys like Jimmy G, Carr and Mettenbeger are worse than guys like Bradford, Stafford and their ilk. I mean those guys had all sorts of flaws. So did Rivers and Eli and Roth for that matter and they all went in the top 10 or 12. The assumption that you are gonna get a Luck level QB in any draft is wrong and most teams picking a QB won't have a shot at that level guy anyways because he is going to go 1 overall. These guys are what draftable, high level, draftable QBs look like. People have just forgotten that.

Some validity to that. Call it a cycle from overhype to under.
And my eyes tell me Aaron Murray belongs in those who could well be successful NFL qbs... and be had late in the draft if appearances are to be trusted.

In what round you thinking?
I think he will go somewhere between late 2 to the 5th. Some feel he won't even be drafted due to his injury... with the bucs not having a third - I am guessing 4th if they are interested. Naturally that depends on what happens in FA... if enough holes can be filled there maybe a second round selection
It's funny. Everyone on here will disagree. I was saying that last years Quarterback class was terrible and people would come out of the wood work to say it's one of the best in recent years.
Who exactly said the 2013 crop was the "best in recent years"Headlined by Manual, Geno, Nassib, and BarkleyIll wait for the link, cause I dont believe you.
Last year's QB class was considered gimped and it shows how teams drafted the QB's and where they were drafted. This year's QB I wouldn't be surprised to see 4 QB's taken in the first round and even in the top 15 of the first round.

You may see 4 QB's taken but none of them are of very good NFL quality. I'm glad to hear that Lovie and Co. are not going QB in the first round. I think if we go QB at all it will be late in the draft.
If anyone thinks that this QB class is worse than last years then they arent paying attention. There are definitely two QBs at the top that I would be thrilled with acquiring. But agree that if those two arent there I would not like to see the Bucs reach for one of the others just because he is there.

I would be down with Drafting him, but to do that I wouldn't wait until 4th. I think someone will grab him in the third. If it wasn't for his injury he'd talked about in the first.
Yeah, I truly believe that 5 years from now that all of these QBs will either be out of the league or Sanchezed to some backup role. There is no Luck in this draft and for that reason if we want to move forward into the realm of a franchise being taken seriously we need to focus elsewhere.
There's only been one Luck in the last zillion years. And when the next one rolls around, we might not be in any position to draft him. That doesn't mean we can just give up on trying to find a championship caliber QB
I subscribe to the "you can't hit a homerun if you don't swing" theory. I hope we keep drafting one til we get it right!!

So you would define "right" as a prospect that comes in and throws for 3500 + yards 27-32 TDs and 5 pics or something like that? Your logic would require us to draft a new QB every year.............no thanks. Glennon did enough his first season to see what we have in him.

Well, there has been a couple more, but the message is clear. Damned Colts have done it twice in a row... jealous I am. But imagine what the Colts fans are missing - going through a few dozen guys and not hitting is exciting - isn't it?

I would love to believe Mike Glennon would be THE qb the bucs have been searching for - but until there is something that backs that up let's keep trying. I subscribe to the "you can't hit a homerun if you don't swing" theory. I hope we keep drafting one til we get it right!!

Did someone say the bucs should cut Glennon? I was under the impression this was if the opportunity arose to draft a quality qb they should - and let the competition begin...
