I don’t know how it takes this long to figure some of this stuff out. For 2 years now I’ve been saying:
- stop using safeties as nickel backs and instead use cover corners (I.e-misplacing Winfield last year) Zion helped out there last night.
- Devin white isn’t a starting MLBer in the NFL. He’s hurting our defense. We haven’t lost a game this year that Britt has started… including last night.
- last February I said go draft Calihah Kancey.
- stop always running soft zone behind 5 and 6 man blitz schemes. It leaves too much space for receivers to work. We finally did it last night.
- since we drafted Otton last year I’ve said he’s a good backup. Yes, he played good last night, despite two drops, but he’s still just a good backup.
I’m glad they made these necessary moves last night and looked as good as they did. Now let’s bring it to Detroit.
I shit on Otton alot for being soft early into the season, but he has developed nicely and has gotten mentally tougher he pushes the piles now he fights for yards, and now he has shown to beat 1on1 coverage, he is a top 32 tightend in the league. He can continue to get tougher and continue to attack, Anzalone blew him up on a run fit early this season and that what led me to believe he is soft in the run game but he started attacking more and is "finding" that contact instead of taking it. Durham I also like a lot. Expect a lot of cover 1 this week against detroit, he has another opportunity. Nacua was eating up cover 1 but we got our own guys. On film we showed our hand in otton, so now the safety is gonna creep down a bit more to defend otton make sure to make them pay leaving Mike 1on1 on the deep go ball. Pump to otton in the middle and launch it down the sideline. The look WILL be there.
Those 90 yards and possibly 100 and td was all him beating 1on1 matchup lb/s it didnt matter
Otton at times looks like a solid #2 TE. I think we didn't see enough of Otton being dynamic as a pass catcher but the playoff game against Philly showed that athleticism. So Otton may become a primary TE. But I still think the Bucs need to draft a TE that is even more athletic to pair with Otton.
Sanders or Stover would be fun to watch in this offense.
@mic - he really has gotten better and works hard. He’s easy to like.
Agreed and I have also been a pretty harsh critic.
I am still not sure what he ends up becoming, but he's definitely been on an upward trajectory this year . . . overall. The whole team has, for the most part.
Sanders or Stover would be fun to watch in this offense.
I'm hoping for Sanders in R2. Been mocking him there all year. Good prospect.

Yeah. I think he's be an absolute stud in Canales's system.
Huge upgrade over Otton, especially from a playmaker/explosive prospective.
Been mocking him there all year.
Why would you mock him? He has good hands, explosive off the LOS, ... oh wait, um, never mind.
Now if only we get start a rumor in the Detroit locker room to have the players quit on Dan Campbell
