Scouting the 2014 NFL Draft: TE Jace AmaroBy Alan Schechter - Jan 15th, 2014 at 6:00 pmDec 30, 2013; San Diego, CA, Texas Tech Red Raiders wide receiver Jace Amaro (22) after the Texas Tech Red Raiders defeated the Arizona State Sun Devils in the Holiday Bowl at Qualcomm Stadium. Michael C. Johnson-USA TODAY Sports Again, I know it’s early to start scouting draftees, but with all of the talk around this guy, we should take a look at him, so that is what we are going to do. Tonight we are going to take a look at Texas Tech TE Jace Amaro. Let’s start by going to the video tape for some highlights: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fpa9ITVamVI&feature=player_embedded This player stands at 6’5?, excellent for a tight end, and weighs 260 pounds. Here are his stats while in college: Receiving
PROS: As we said earlier, his size is one of his biggest strengths. He also has a clear nose for the end zone. He has terrific game speed, can get away from anyone. Jace has good feet, can control them near the sidelines. He also runs a great pass route, and doesn’t drop passes. CONS: I am stretching now, but based on how he played, coming out early might not have been the best idea. He has only had one good year on offense. Being only a junior, he might have been better suited staying in school and building on the year that he had. He’s a decent run blocker, but that could stand some improvement. Bottom line, . Its early Other choices are going to become available. But, being they are at #18, and Jace Amaro might be available at #18. The Jets would do fine if they choose Amaro. http://thejetpress.com/2014/01/15/scouting-2014-nfl-draft-te-jace-amaro/?utm_source=FanSided&utm_medium=Network&utm_campaign=Around%20the%20Network
No thanks. He's the first round version of Tim freaking Wright. Ebron is a better blocker and looks to have more speed and ability to separate.
Rather have Ebron or ASJ
The problem is his weakness do nothing to compliment Wright - he can't block inline. Now, if he is Jimmy Graham II Wright isn't good enough to pass on that but that is setting him a high ceiling.
ONLY if they trade down (& Ebron is already gone) or if he's still there in the 2nd round
ASJ in the 2nd for me please.
I like him, he'd be a great red zone target. However, I see Ebron and ASJ as superior. I would take Amaro if he's the only one left in the 2nd.
