I think Donovan Ezeirauku is interesting. Don’t know if he lasts till our pick in 2nd round pick.
Zero chance he’s there for us in the 2nd round.
should be there at 19 though?
Ive seen multiple mocks that have him going earlier.
If EDGE is the pick, should have one of these guys available:
- EZ
- Stewart
- Pearce Jr.
- Scourton
I have also considered whether the Bucs would/could trade down. I think to get the right value, they’d have to find a partner that lost more games than we did… because if the second tier DB options drop, they likely won’t make it past the early to middle 2nd round.Maybe, I don’t know if a 1st round corner falls to #19, there will be some corners there, just not sure they have 1st round value. Wouldn't want to reach just because this draft is skinny on 1st round value. It’s one reason why I think the Buc’s could see value in Campbell.ESPN saying we need a starter level corner in case Dean goes down
"[The Bucs] addressed cornerback depth in signing Kindle Vildor after Bryce Hall’s injury last year and Tyrek Funderburk and Josh Hayes’ struggles. But they need a starting-caliber corner as an insurance policy for Jamel Dean, who has struggled to stay healthy."
But does Bryce Hall signing change that a bit?
To me, the draft is lining up better for Edge in the 1st round, the only position that has similar value at #19 would seem to be DT, which I wouldn’t love, but the talent/value is there.
Agreed
The point you're making about 1st round value is why in an earlier pst I was asking about a list of top 3 or 4 CBs. I doubt they take one at 19 too, but would they take one with their second pick? Or,maybe even trade back with their first? Maybe its the 3rd pick
Its seems they would take a CB somewhere, but they do still have Dean and McCollum, and have now added Hall again, so maybe Dean stays and they feel okay with their depth so they skip the position all together?
Tough to say. I think people on the board mostly say Hall as a good pickup last year
Still conflicted on that move, but with Reddick on the roster, I’m not married to any picks at this point. I don’t think the Buc front office is either.
Well before we pick.Cornerback: While not seen as their most pressing need right now, cornerback could be a consideration if the value is right at pick 19. Benjamin Morrison from Notre Dame is a name that has come up in discussions
who are top 3 CB in the draft?
where are they predicted to go?
cool info from Licht because apparently he is explaining pre-draft to the Glazers why they will pass on some "big names."
“So every year before the draft, you know, my owners are awesome. They don’t look over my shoulder and ask me every day who are we taking or give any input; they trust me,” Licht said. “But I give them a document the day before the draft; ‘these are the players you’re going to see maybe-possibly go very high that we have [rated] low. And these are the reasons why.’ And there’s usually about a dozen of those players. So, it’s kind of interesting.”
defense only, priority adjusted to BPA on positions we need (pass rusher, safety, corner, linebacker)
do not even watch who‘s available on offense, we‘re rock solid there
do not even watch who‘s available on offense,
Wrong.
SR's Fab 5
"Tampa Bay’s lack of quality depth in the secondary and at the inside linebacker position last year led to the defense’s undoing. David was healthy enough to start all 18 games, including the playoffs, last year, but probably shouldn’t have been playing close to 100% of the snaps of every game at age 34, as it hurt his overall effectiveness.
The Bucs will draft an inside linebacker this year to add youth, speed and talent to the unit, and Licht and Bowles must draft wisely. Out of all of the players that Tampa Bay selects this year, the linebacker they choose – in whatever round – must be a hit."

Grab Pearce Jr. or EZ in the 1st.
Grab Schwesinger or Paul Jr. in rounds 2 and 3.
Mike Green or bust
Licht with a great description of his draft philosophy:
“If you try to stack your [draft] board by the needs of your team, what you end up doing, and speaking from experience, you end up pushing up players that don’t belong in the higher rounds up,” Licht said. “And you end up taking them because you have that need. And you’re kicking yourself later when you cut the after a year or two — that you wish you would have taken the other player.”
“It’s deep at running back but we’re pretty good there (laughs),” Licht said. “It’s a very deep group [in the draft] at running back. You know, there’s a lot of depth at interior defensive line, which would be good to (stops himself and pauses). You know, it’s always good to have great depth and be able to sub in waves [on] that defensive line. And we’ve seen that in recent years in the Super Bowl; the Eagles had unbelievable depth at defensive line this year.”
I’m concerned that at #19, you would be reaching to get a corner/safety there. Unless someone falls, there wont be first round value there - you’re going to be reaching. I doubt we reach in this draft.BPA.
And, the way it looks like it will fall, it’ll be EDGE or CB.
A lot of the CBs were taken late in the first round because of the run on offensive players in the last draft. If that repeats then there is chance the Bucs pull the trigger on CB.
It depends on how the first 15 picks go but if there is another run on offensive players then the top corners will be there at #19.
Last draft you had:
First CB went off the board at #22 for the Eagles, Quinyon Mitchell. Terrion Arnold was drafted #24 for the Lions. And the Ravens drafted Nate Wiggins at #30 overall.
In a scenario that top offensive players are off the board and edge rusher the Bucs will have BAP at CB to pick @19 overall.
It depends on how the first 15 picks go but if there is another run on offensive players then the top corners will be there at #19.
I think Hunter, Barron, and Johnson will be gone by #19.
Fairly decent gap between them and the next tier.
