But most of them aren't even guaranteed a roster spot. Aaron Schatz of Football Outsiders highlighted three Buccaneers in his top 25 breakout prospects list for ESPN.  William Gholston, Chris Owusu and Patrick Omameh. All three of those players will get some opportunities in training camp this year, but none of them are guaranteed playing time, let alone regular season production. G Patrick Omameh Yes, Patrick Omameh saw some time with the first team at guard. But he was far from the only one, with Kadeem Edwards, Oniel Cousins and Jamon Meredith showing up at offensive guard for the first team at times, too. The truth is that the Buccaneers are still holding a competition to figure out who should start at either guard position, assuming Carl Nicks can't play. That competition won't really get going until the pads come on in training camp, which starts this week. DE William Gholston We're pretty big fans of William Gholston, but some of the hype surrounding the huge defensive end is perhaps getting a bit out of hand. First he'll have to beat out Adrian Clayborn and Da'Quan Bowers for playing time at left defensive end, and then he'll have to be productive doing so. Gholston made some high-profile plays and he improved as the season went on, but he's still a ways removed from being a consistent pass rusher. WR Chris Owusu Chris Owusu is perhaps the most intriguing player we never talked about. Lovie Smith has noted his standing out during OTAs, and he certainly has the size and speed to be a productive player. The problem is that he stood out during last year's offseason, too -- and promptly did nothing during the season. Owusu seemed to be on a different page from the quarterbacks when he did get on the field, and couldn't do anything to impress during the regular season. He'll have to find a way to translate his training camp performance to regular season production before I can take him seriously as a break-out candidate.link
