I would put it in the top 3 of his worst deals. The deal has affected the Bucs for 3 seasons and kept a below average players in the roster while paying premium money for that player and has prevented the Bucs from grabbing a younger/better option since that position was filled by a "pro bowler". He is still on the roster too, and it isn't a for sure thing that they will bounce him just yet.

I dont think his deal prevented them from drafting another lineman. Thats the point of the new rookie wage scale. It was a bad deal for sure, but Dom had some that rank higher in my eyes.
Oh yeah...they most certainly could have and definitely should have drafted some OLmen. My point is that Dom and the FO most likely had the thought that, "well we have the OG position shored up with Davin, so lets use our picks elsewhere". The same thing could happen to Lovie and his staff this year. Right now we are tied to a "FS" who is poor in coverage, but his salary is going to most likely keep hi m around for 2 more seasons. So there could be a safety they really like fall into their laps in say the 2nd or 4th round. They will most likely pass on that player with the hope that Goldson can at least play at an average level and will draft a player at a bigger position of need. Point is, not only can giving big $ to big named football players not work out on the field, it can also make you hesitant in taking another player at that position when you might have other positions where it initially seems like there is a more pressing need.
Davin is horrible. I want him gone
Three years too late. Should have moved on from him and his buddy in 2011. Paying crappy players big money is one of the biggest reasons Dominik is currently unemployed.
Best thing about Dom being gone. 1. They will draft O-Line. 2. His contract structuring was good but the people he gave them to failed. O-line will need heavy treatment unless we get a QB with mobility.
I question PFF's rankings many times, but especially for run blocking. Davin's problem is and has always been that he flat out misses on too many blocks, and obviously that is something that can be glaring when you analyze tape. When Davin is on though, and is getting to his blocks, he is a monster and can blast open holes. Before he got injured, Mike James seemed to be doing a lot of his running behind Joseph and both players had great games in Seattle IMO.
Between injuries and never having played with a real could player next to him, his career never really took off. Sometimes happens;Unfortunate...
It's the failure to get a sufficient return on players and picks that led to Dom's firing. The money paid by Dom is almost irrelevant. If you doubt that, ask yourself if Dom gets fired for having too much payroll if we win a Super Bowl.
Ooh yeah, dj needs to go.Besides that we need a center to move zutt back, and penn needs to go too.Imo, we could draft a couple of linemen, start them as rookies, and there still wouldn't be much dropoff, if any.
Keep Dotson, sign Alex Mack from Cleveland. Determine if Nicks can play. soon, very soon. If he can't, he's gone. But if he stays, that is a powerful left side. Draft a RT, sign a young RG, add some depth and let it roll. Glennon/Vick, WR's RB's all get instantly better. Offense stays on the field and produces more, defense is rested and focuses on turnovers (pass rush & pressures/sacks) and the special teams contribute at a high level. To me, there is nothing more important than the Oline. It begins and ends there and we currently suck rocks. Flush the toilet on all of them that cant stay on the field and produce.
