If we draft Timmy Jernigan, our fortunes as a franchise change over night. Defensive Tackles dont grow on trees and he is something special. I haven't heard much talk about him on this board but after the combine he will be a high first round pick and I hope we grab him! Great kid too!
You know.
He is going to be interesting to watch. But the Bucs don't have many picks this year. :(
I think Jernigan is growing on me, but as I said in my Mock 6 picks, a lot depends on how free agency shakes out for us. However, Jernigan would really solidify the middle with McCoy.
I realize I'm in the minority, but I think Jernigan's been overhyped his entire career. Good player, not great player.

I tend to agree with the great part but he's so solid and consistent. Someone you can count on vs the run and the pass. He loves football!
I just feel like with the amount of times we have heard the comparisons to the old Bucs defense, including from Lovie himself, there is no way we would spend a high pick on a DT. We already have the star interior lineman we need.

I agree. that would be a luxury pick. weve already got a monster at DT in McCoy and he really just needs a good runningmate next to him which you can get without spending a high pick. Jernigan and McCoy combined would be unfair but I don't see any way we go that routeMcCoy would be more deadly if we could just get him some outside passrush help to free him up in the middle more for 1 on 1s
There are just far too many good prospects at positions we need way more that will very likely be available at 38. Since there's no way he's lasting to the 4th, that's where we'd need to select him unless we're trading back and gathering additional picks. Even if we picked up something late in the second or early in the 3rd (where I think his value probably is), I likely wouldn't take him. If we're taking a dt I would want a double team block eating NT (I kinda like Spence too tbh). I don't know that Timmy fits that mold. Good player though, I did enjoy watching him play every time I saw FSU.
yeah Jernigan is a classic 3tech. he can play nose but it wastes his talents to be honest. hes a player id love to have but I cant see a way we get him
I'm a fan of him as a prospect, but I agree with those who have said he'd be a luxury pick the team can't really afford. He's not a Suh-level prospect that the team would have to take regardless of need.

agreed. now lets talk about Joyner in the 2nd. That is a FSU guy we should be looking at.
Donald.
Donald.
to me hes a luxury pick as well. slightly smaller than Jernigan and he plays the same position as McCoy also. his talent is wasted as a nose tackle so its not worth a pick

im just saying if we go that route I am all about Donald in round two, where he will have been appropriately drafted. IF being the key. I would prefer QB/pass rush in 1/2, or vice versa. And if not pass rush, I would live a beast like Mathews(fool proof bloodlines), or Robinson. Who is alpha all the way. Guy is a stud. I agree, layering the DT position seems frivolous.
