To transition means you are giving something up this year for the benefit of the future years.

lolz @ this definition.

That’s part of your problem - simple concepts like transitioning from the GOAT at QB to a scrub vet QB/unknown QB with a new OC evades you.

Uh yeah I pretty much mentioned just about every time "other than the QB" etc.   If you are just looking at QB, like most people seem to be doing, then you would have to think the Bucs are in transition.  If you look at the rest of the team there is only minor changes of rotational/depth/one-year rentals and aging players.   Where is Leonard Fournette?  Where is Cam Brate?  Gholston?  Still unsigned.  They will probably hook on somewhere for another year to scratch out another year.  The best player who has moved on and signed with another team I guess is Bunting? and that's because you can't sign both Dean and Bunting.  Or maybe Roches who is a rotational player?  What about all the main players on the team?  Where are they?  Still on the team.

Other than Brady what is the biggest roster move this team made in this "soft transition" in your opinion?

I’m not offering an opinion, I’m dealing with reality and facts. 11 out of 22 starting positions have different players penciled in, with the QB position being one of them. For the math challenged, that’s 50% of the starters. 50% = half.  Half of the starting positions have different players. I’m not sure I can make this any easier for you to grasp, Professor.

while they aren’t ripping off the bandaid, purposefully tanking, they clearly don’t care of this years outcome in the hope that mayfield is the answer or if he sucks, we have a chance at drafting a guy next year

they ate the Brady cap hit when they could have spread it. You can play the “well maybe Brady didn’t want too” crap but that’s a mighty big what if and considering he didn’t come back, holds little weight

this team wasn’t good enough last year and was bailed out by Brady in 4 games. If you argument that Brady was so bad last year than mayfield will be better, then I’d like you to compare their stats at the end of the season - mayfield 2023 versus Brady 2022 and put those dancing shoes on

If you really believe the Bucs don't care, or that the fans don't care, you are believing the talking heads or the posters on boards too much.

Heres' the facts:  Bucs fans put up with a lot, but the one thing they have zero tolerance for is a lack of effort.  It's a pet peeve of ours. Just ask Devin White.  He took it easy on one play and it was more controversial than Watergate.   If the fans perceive that the Bucs aren't hustling or if the team isn't fully dedicated to winning they'll be calling for Bowles' head ASAP.  Not at the end of the season, not after they are eliminated from contention - now. The Bucs have the talent to win, but they have to believe in themselves.  They can't be listening to this nonsense.  But they have the veteran leaders, guys like David, Evans, Vea, and even Mayfield, to be able to tune out the nonsense and be focused on winning.  They can't say "Oh don't worry about it.  This is a soft tank season.  So everybody just relax."  When the season comes, there won't be any tolerance for losing any more than there is any other year.  Players can't say "Well next year we're really going to try again."  You can't just take a year off and then say "OK now guys we're back in business.  We're going to try hard this year...." It just doesn't work like that.  Not for the players. Not for the fans.  Losing teams may do that.  Good teams don't do that.  All this talk on this board and in the press about soft tanking, about transitioning, it's all just a bunch of idle talk. When the season comes we are going to see a good team with veteran leaders who is going to contend for the division title.  If they don't, if they are half-assing it, there will be a price to pay.  It won't be tolerated.

And what followed was a list of opinions and speculation.

Not being able to differentiate facts from opinions and speculation is a problem in this discussion, and most others discussions with the Professor.

Yes it's my opinion based on history.  I have no verifiable statistical data to back up that particular opinion.  Congrats on calling me out on that.   It's still the truth that Bucs fans don't tolerate lack of effort.  You want to call that opinion?  Fine.  It's my OPINION based on my experience.  Happy?  I don't suppose any NFL fans tolerate it.  I notice, as usual, you don't have your own opinion about it.  Maybe if there is a problem with this discussion it's people nit picking others without adding their own opinion about the actual topic being discussed.

But thank you for being so concerned with the five page thread I started during this slow offseason when few are posting on this board and identifying that I'm the problem.  Of course that's just your OPINION.  Where are all the good threads?  Where is the thread with your opinion on it?  I can't find it.  Since you are so good at searching.  Why don't you search up one of those?

What a crock

Sapp called him out, they were on a 3 game collapse

some of the football guys here - who waive their supposed football acumen as a banner of glory - maintained that the Bucs were a SB team WITH A SB DEFENSE- they was undermined by Leftwich

point: most fans are not paying the attention you see from hardcore football fans here so … a “pet peeve?”

Just hope that it will be 13-4 but being realistic post-Brady, hope it is 10-6.

I wouldn't say the posters on this board (including myself) are more "hard core" than the hard core Bucs fans who have season tickets and tailgate every game and so forth.  We are in the offseason when many Bucs fans hard core or not are not paying much attention except for the draft and any major headlines.  The talking heads in the media are often people who don't have much stake in a particular team.  It's easy for them to say the Bucs should be rebuilding and "soft tank" or whatever. They don't have to pay for the tickets and watch the games. They don't really care.

If you are a board poster on the Red Board you are probably a legit Bucs fan or you wouldn't be wasting your time here, but we are in the offseason and we aren't dealing with real football right now.  Just idle chatter, and it's easy to talk about rebuilding and soft tanking etc.  Wait until the season comes along and we are playing real games and lets see how tolerant the posters on this board are then when we lose two games in a row. I venture to say not very.  Lets see how many losses happen before the fan base starts calling for Bowles' head.  Two?  Three? There won't be a lot of talk about soft tanking during the season I assure you.

The season ticket holders do care.  They don't come to the games to watch rebuilding. They aren't understanding when the Bucs suck, nor should they be.  Long time Bucs fans know from experience that "rebuilding" is just another word for "losing".  They've been through enough "rebuilding".  If you have a team with talented players on it, as the Bucs do this year, you should be winning games.  Good franchises don't win for two years and then lose for ten.  Good franchises have a competitive team every year.  Tom Brady not withstanding, the Bucs have a talented team and should win their share of games this year (more than four!)  There won't be a lot of patience for losing when the season rolls around, nor should there be.

you posted that all Bucs fans were like you (ie you posted on behalf of Bucs fans) and they they had a “zero tolerance” for lazy play CITING the D White Raven game scenario as proof

i responded about that singular claim

you responded with paragraphs about fans here versus season ticket holders and their general thoughts on losing…
