Bucs defense didn't show up vs the Cowboys in the home playoff game. Major embarrassment.
well I mean the offense didn’t do shit per usual and that Tom Brady redzone IT may be the moment he finally realized he was done. May not admit it now, but 5 years from now could see him joking about it
the Bucs last year were 100% one dimensional. Some of that was on OC for sure but part of it is having ZERO underneath game - no RB running or catching as a big threat, no real TE threat and for most of the season no Godwin
It wasn't "some of it was on OC".
It was the MAJORITY of it was on OC.
Obviously, not having Gronk or AB equates to a big downgrade in the skills position department. But, both those guys missed time over their last few seasons and the offense was still able to produce points.
The problem was Byron and his insanely predictable play calling, personnel decisions, and predictable game planning.
Multiple games (GB and Balt specifically) where the defenses were audibly bragging that they knew the plays (and the sequencing).
Essentially the same 2-3 run plays, out of the same formation, on the same downs (and same situations) called all season long. You're not going to have a successful season rushing the ball that way. Even Goodwin called out Lefty after the Ravens game, basically saying he refused to go back to the well with what works.
Passing game? Same thing.
Then, mix that in with an OC who stands at pressers and when questioned about analytics, stats, etc.
"This isn't fantasy football"
"Play action doesn't work unless you're running the ball well"
The season was dead in the water before it even started with this dipshit.
On that note, "Happy 4th"!

this is thing.
above you get the kind of classic defense of the defense - season stats. “They were ranked 13th…”
if you just look how the games actually played out WITH THE PLAYOFF LOSS AS THE ULTIMATE EXAMPLE the defense was NOT the Super Bowl defense. The defense was on its heels and often unable to come up with the stops when really needed, mostly due to ineffective front four pressure and run stopping.
the defense is not the primary reason for the Bucs poor play, BUT it’s poor play (particularly against the Cowboys in the playoffs) undercuts the view - posted here often during the season - that this was basically a loaded with talent SB team held back by an OC lol
this was a bad team basically propped up by a super star
The defense may have been ranked 13th, but you're right, they were epically bad at times, especially in the playoff game. Prescott led the league in INTs with 15, tied with Davis Mills. At least Mills had an excuse since he was a rookie. Back to Prescott, vs the Bucs 25/33 305 yds 4 tds 0 ints. We all hope the Bucs FO and coaching staff learned from this and will have corrected the defensive shortcomings before this fall.
and a new head coachWouldn’t hate it
would put us in a good position for Caleb Williams or drake maye!

There are multiple people in this thread that aren’t capable of learning from their mistakes and/or incapable of moving off a piss-poor opinion. You’re responding to one of those nitwits here.
Look in the mirror, dude. You've never moved off an opinion, so that means either a) you don't admit you are wrong or b) you are always right. I guess you could be the one who's always right?

It's akin to the Devin White argument.
His sycophants will claim he's a Top-5 LB, worth multiple 1st's in a trade, so on and so on.
Despite all the film, analytics, and metrics to completely debunk this; those dumb bastards insist on dying on that hill.
I mean, for years, our very own resident Professor claimed VH3 was still worthy of a 1st round pick. He reached desperation levels that were simply unfathomable when he had to cling to a "game saving tackle against the Panthers" as his last line of defense in an argument.
Meh. It is what it is.
