SR also suggest that Bowles might need the win against the Eagles
"The Glazers and Licht also wanted to see if Bowles could win in the postseason. Because if a head coach can’t win in the postseason, there will be no Super Bowl."
Cites Dungy as an example
That part is a little inconsistent with a team that didn't expect to make the playoffs at the beginning of the season, but maybe they did because of the division.
SR dropping some knowledge in the FAB 5, INCLUDING WHY BOWLES WAS NEVER GETTING FIRED LAST YEAR
"Bowles was named Bruce Arians’ replacement on March 30, 2022 after the first two waves of free agency was over. "
"one of Arians’ directives to Bowles was that he keep the coaching staff intact during the 2022 season."
"Bowles had some fundamental differences of opinion with offensive coordinator Byron Leftwich and some of the offensive staff members, but his hands were basically tied that first year."
AND WHAT WAS ONE (MAJOR) FUNDAMENTAL DIFFERENCE?
"Bowles wanted to run the ball more and have a balanced offense, which would be a more complementary style of football to aid his defense."
AND AS RECENTLY AS LAST WEEK IT WAS POSTED HERE THAT "BOWLES ENDED BARDY'S CAREER." SR RESPONDS TO THAT WITH THE UNTHINKABLE . . THE WORDS THAT ONE IS NEVER TO POST:
"Even though some suggest that Bowles ruined Tom Brady’s final season in Tampa Bay – and the NFL – keep in mind that Brady’s decline was more his own doing."
ONE OTHER FASCINATING PIRCE OF INFO. CANALES WAS NOT THE FIRST CHOICE and a reflection of the circumstances:
"[BOWLES] had to play with a rookie play-caller in Dave Canales, as several of the offensive coordinator candidates Bowles interviewed in the offseason turned down the opportunity due to the coach’s shaky job security."
These kinds of coincidences I have chosen to call miracles. Strange but true. I visited a Ripleys believe it or not in St. Augustine when I was a kid. Ive been back there once, and Im probably going there tomorrow as per my daughters request-weather permitting and all. Anyhoo. Sometimes the facts are strange and work out ok in weird coincidences. I stepped on my wifes wedding ring after I threw both of our wedding rings in a stream chalk full of brush. My wife found my ring, I hadnt even tried looking for it, as I called her dumb and urged her to come inside, we would resolve our first year fights like civilized ppl who love each other. I tell you that at that moment I STEPPED on my wife diamond ring. She had found my after searching through mud for hours and even in the dark. I had given up searching...I accidentally, coincidentally stepped on something sharp and looked down under my feet and saw the faintest glimmer of a diamond, it was her wedding ring. I call that miraculous/miracle. We just celebrated 22years on Oct 12th. She's got a much much bigger ring now, but she keeps the OG in a safe next to her bed, and ask her which one she wants to be buried in and I promise you itll be the OG, the one I accidentally stepped on. Shyt, she even has her wedding dress. So yeah, strange things can happen, sometimes, go to a Ripleys Believe it or Not and you will see at least one impossible possible thing, you just gotta go with the flow and be like Wata. BL.
I'd give Bowles 75% chance to keep his job. 100% if the Bucs win, 50% if they lose. Bowles didn't have choices, but neither did Licht. Licht was stuck with Bowles instead of getting a fair chance to go through the interview process. It's entirely possible that Licht and the Glazers see Bowles as a stopgap/transitional coach and would like the chance to hire somebody else. I'm not saying I know what Licht and the Glazers are thinking. Just that it's entirely possible.

agree, not sure about the timing though.
Timing may be an issue because what is the selling point at this moment to the new HC candidate? Maybe, maybe . . for a Mayfield believer OR a maybe new guy on the way up? Not sure about a big name though. We have some good younger players, but also aging vets to filter out. Also, big cap stuff still. We dont have that GREAT 1st round pick or a very young, promising QB already drafted and just waiting for someone to develop him
Don't get me wrong, good team, but we dont stand out right now as the obvious "hell yeah" job for some big name coach.
Honestly, if Canales was this season an OC somewhere else with Mayfield, you could see Licht dumping Bowles to hire Canales with Canales bringing Mayfield here as a FA.The Raheem plan
Whoever loses our game the HC is gone imho
Winning a playoff game with this young squad is a huge important step.
Nah keep the pressure on. He’s got to beat Detroit :)
Bowles had a look in his eye tonight, he had that edge to him, thats what i like to see
I think the Eagles didn’t convert a 3rd down? Not sure. Maybe 1
great defense tonight
bought himself at least two more years with me.
bought himself at least two more years with me.
well as eagles and cowboys coaches have shown (or I guess we will see but both should be fired)
hard to call it 2 year security when a team is possible of starting 10-1 and collapsing or going 16-0 at home and getting stomped on in playoffs to a #7 seed
hes bought himself to open 2024 season as head coach.
Beating the eagles in the playoffs does taste good tho
Here to eat crow on bowles
hes won me over the last month of the season plus last night.
like 2020 we go as far as our defense takes us.
the D was dominant last night. Lions game is house money at this point
first game vs Detroit we lost 20-6.
anyone think we score more then 6 this time around?
Holding them to 20 again will be no small task
Thus endeth the discussion. So what changed? You couldn't win for love or money, Todd? Milk. And we had a run of bad luck and now we're back in the black. So, I thought I'd pay the Eagles back!
Well, I had him losing the locker room back in October so boy was that wrong. Glad to see the success.
