"It's a shame that they have to be put in the position where they have to respond about something to do with me. Again, it's not about me. I'm here for them. If you want to break it all down, blame it all on me, I'm the head coach, I'm responsible."We lose, I lose the game for our players. Put it that way, leave it that way. We try like heck not to put these young men in a position where they feel badly about the circumstances that the head coach finds himself in."It is very refreshing to see a Head Coach man up and take responsibility when his players don't get it done. Coughlin has no say on personnel in New York, but he does not make any excuses for his inability to get his players to perform.Lovie Smith on the other hand is throwing his players under the bus on a weekly basis. He has benched or cut every single corner back that has been on the roster this year and always explains that "they need to get better". This week in his after game press conference he threw Winston under the bus by highlighting his INT and he threw Martin under the bus by bringing up Martin's fumbles. Maybe its time for Lovie Smith to look in the mirror himself and see what he needs to do differently. Maybe he can run some drills for Martin. Maybe he can adjust his ball placement the way Coughlin did with Tiki Barber to eliminate his fumbling issue? Maybe it is a lot deeper than "the players need to get better" Maybe Lovie Smith needs to be more pro active. Maybe he needs to adjust his coaching style and take responsibility for his men out there on the field. Take a cue from a HOF head coach Lovie Smith. Man up.
