Licht's first pick ever was the best Buc of all-time.
Didn’t realize he drafted Brooks. Go on…
Since then, he's drafted by anyone's estimation, 7 of the top 15 Bucs of all-time.
Name ‘em
well i didn't say it but thought it would be interesting to guess who he might mean
so Licht joined in 2024
would think Mike Evans, Chris Godwin, and Tristian Wirfs are the only guys currently there in the top 15
Outside looking in probably Ali Marpet, Vita Vea, and Antonio Winfield. If he extends this out to top 30, then yeah you can likely get to 7...but otherwise, looks like an exaggeration.
and I think Licht is probably our best GM of all time. I mean, that's not saying much, i am sure some will argue McKay but just saying Licht if not already, might overtake him
Good post.
There is a pretty clear line of demarcation where the culture change came from for anyone that doesn't love making foolish arguments.
It’s nothing more than the drunk bastard’s irrational hatred of Brady.
Anything positive from the Brady era is because of everything not named Brady. It’s because of Lefty, Bruce, Licht, and now laughably enough…Bowles.
Anything negative from the Brady era is 100% completely and indisputably because of Brady and him alone.
I mean, he’s in this thread saying that Brady’s last year “mostly unraveled all the good he had done” and the “Bucs have done more”.
Guess SB titles don’t mean much in the land of perpetually-walking 1.67 BAL’s.
Who knows? We move on…
Cycle complete.
From "foolishness" to a blizzard of name calling to ... er ... "move on"
lmao. Move on we shall.

He is. McKay deserved credit too. They both have ups and downs
Heres an exercise for anyone who cares
Brady is the GOAT and his presence brings guys like Gronk and he definitely changes the culture in 2020. But even if one was to put aside that Licht brought Brady here (laughable but okay) just look at the Super Bowl team. And I don't just mean the defense (Licht gets 100% credit there? Licht/Arisn/Bowles).
on offense they FEATURE Licht guys too. From a draft pick like Jones to future HOF Wirfs and Evans to Godwin and Marpet and even Jensen ...
not discounting Brady. Just saying there is a reason he chose the Bucs and it's not just taxes lol
well there’s no doubt Licht is a good GM. As you suggested he’s created a perennial playoff team
That being said, would he be a superbowl winning GM without Brady. My view is No
as good as Baker is, and as fun as they’ve been to watch, they aren’t in that Super Bowl bubble that the same 5-6 teams are each year (chiefs, ravens, bills, eagles, lions, 49ers)
hopefully I’m wrong but I feel we are in the “hey maybe we win a playoff game” tier and that’s with a QB that threw 40 + TDs last year. Brady is a different animal dude and elevates others game s
We're a fringe playoff team if we weren't in the south. Largely or almost entirely because of our short comings on defense and Bowles.

Agree
The 2002 Bucs basically disintegrated over the next few years (2005 being a good season with early playoff exit) and then blew that whole regime up to give us Dom & Morris
By comparison, the Licht led dead cap post-Brady team is actually winning and going to the playoffs AS it is getting the finances cleared.
and Licht's fingerprints are all over that success. From his draft picks to value FA moves like Mayfield to resigning starts etc. Even to sticking with Bowles.
so Licht built the SB team - including the HC and Brady and a ton of good picks and FA moves - and continues to win today, during a period when many teams flounder
Compare the Licht Buccaneers to the Falcons since their SB loss to the Pats
So many posters discount the Bucs because of the status of the other teams in the division BUT why are those teams struggling relative to the Licht-led Bucs?
Or look at it this way, the Steelers are about to have their "all in, hired gun" season, do they win a Super Bowl?
How do they do after 2025?
we are talking about a very successful, historic team, so how does it turn out for them.

or how about the Falcons? How did it work out for them getting the "#1 Free Agent QB?"
we took a QB for 10% of that contract
numerous posters here mocked the Mayfield move then trolled him for a season or two but now have come around ... while simultaneously discounting the Bucs because the Falcons and other South teams are not great?? The team that took the "#1 FA QB?"
point:
zoom out look at the whole picture. Licht made all the moves that got a SB ... and paid off that win while still ... winning
The Steelers will go 8-9 this coming season. Kaaron Rodgers is cooked.
One report says Rodger's is playing on a one year $13 million contract
wasn't Cousins $50 million up front?
That being said, would he be a superbowl winning GM without Brady. My view is No
Of course not.
And, like you and I have said (among the majority of Bucs fans), Brady brought the WINNING CULTURE to this franchise.
That's not a knock on Licht or Arians.
It is what it is.
