OK, @Bucswin31, so talk then! Don't leave us hanging. Where do you want to move and what would you give up?Trade up to get one of the top OT's in the draft.
Now we talking
By giving up our 2nd Round pick we could move up to approximately the 11th spot. If you want any chance to get one of the top two or three guys, that's where you have to go to be sure to get the guy you want. Paris Johnson seems to be the first OT off the board from 7 to 9, somewhere in there. So he's probably not in the picture. But there will probably be the next couple guys going off the board before 15th.
By giving up our 3rd Round Pick we could move up to approximately the 15th pick. So it's conceivable that one of the OTs they like will be there at 15 and the Bucs could move up to grab him.
Or they could wait and see who falls to them. In mocks these OTs are spread all around the first round. Nobody knows where these guys are going to go. The Bucs could simply wait it out. Is there really going to be a huge run on OTs before pick 19?
The Bucs have multiple needs, and do you want to trade away a Day 2 pick which could be used for a starting safety or linebacker or tight end or whatever the needs are. These are needs for the Bucs, and you are willing to give that up just to make sure you get your #2 tackle? If you want to move up more than one spot it's going to cost you.
I personally don't think Licht is that laser focused to get that tackle that he would sacrifice needs in other areas. I could be wrong, we'll see. What do you think, Bucswin31? What should we do?
Sure but a small trade down will do nothing but net Day 3 picks. We don't need more Scotty Millers, special teamers. and depth players. You do need those guys, but what we really need are starters. That would be the point of moving down. To get a future starting safety or TE or OG. That would be the point, not to pick up a KJ Britt type of player. So you have to give up something to get that. You are definitely downgrading that pick by going down 5 to 10 spots, but IMO it would be worth it in the scenarios I presented.Always trade down. More day 1, day 2 picks.
Not necessarily true. Although if OTs Harrison or Jones are available at 19, you grab them. Then I'd consider trading back up into the end of the first round and grabbing OG Torrence if he's available.
At that point, you've upgraded the left side of your O-Line big time and can cut bait with Goedeke.
With all due respect to Wirfs, he's full of baloney. His statement says he's just cross training at LT just in case, because he heard it on Twitter. Um.... no. He's not going to just on his own volition start training a certain way because of something he overheard on the grapevine when he has the ability to pick up the phone and ask his coaches what the deal is. Obviously he's done that and has gotten the word that he's moving to left tackle. You can write that down in ink on your 2023 depth chart.
So the Bucs are looking for a right tackle, and that doesn't really downgrade the need. They say the RT is just as important these days with the edge rushers coming in from the left side of the defense. Well, I guess if it was just as important they would have kept Wirfs over there. But nevertheless they don't want to be scraping the barrel for their right tackle.
Having said that, I don't think they are precluded from moving down if Licht doesn't think the tackles available at 19 stack up. There aren't a lot of teams following the Bucs who need OTs based on the team needs on CBS. That would be the Chargers and the Ravens at 21 and 22. Then you don't hit another one until 27 and 28. It's not a glaring need for most of the teams that follow the Bucs. I'm not sure that Licht will be as laser focused on getting a tackle as the fans seem to be and they may be willing to take their chances and move down if they can pick up a Day 2 pick. And I think you could see them addressing that tackle spot with that trade down spot or even on Day 2.
If the Bucs are indeed moving Wirfs to LT then OT might not be the lock pick in the 1st round.
LT- Wirfs
LG- Leverett
C- Jensen
RG- Hainsey
RT- Goedeke
With Stinnie the backup iOL and Walton the swing tackle.
Then you can take Edge or DB. Not saying I agree with it but I believe this is the direction they are going. I would do whatever I can to get Anton Harrison and leave Wirfs at RT
You can't expect a GM to trade up in the draft just magically. How absurd.

Insert the James Van Der Beek crying meme for the Princess.

This is what I've been saying.
And, while I don't think this is the best route (would much rather leave Wirfs at RT), Goedeke didn't look all that bad in his short stint at RT.
Opens us up to Branch at #19 or edge.

Harrison is the direction I want to go.
That being said, I think we can stand pat and still get him.
