New strategy.  We draft well in these rounds.  Can we just stockpile these picks? We definitely need to trade out of the 2nd round, no matter what.  Only backup QB's and kickers are found there.

I’m 100% okay with trading back, and back, and back again if it netted us 4-5 picks in between the 2nd and 3rd rounds.

Lots of great value there (including starters), year in and year out.

This draft is no different.

Goedeke, Mauch, and Braswell the last three second rounders we've picked. 2/3 have been pretty good in their careers here with the Bucs. I think its a position-prospect issue more than anything. I'd say Winfield Jr. is arguably the best second round pick in franchise history? Depending how you value Mike Alstott.

But yeah overall, I don't mind trading back and getting more picks. I don't see us landing an elite player at 21 so drafting a bunch of good players at different positions would be ideal. Still need CB depth, aside with LB starter, and OLB depth

Can you get a cornerstone player at 19?  Each position group seems to have one of those players.  Wirfs on the O-line. Evans, Vea, Mayfield, Winfield.  Winfield was a 2nd rounder, but the rest were mostly early on in the first round.  Perhaps Barton and Kancey, both drafted well into the 2nd half of the round, could rise to that level of importance to the team.  Is there a player this year at 19 who can project to be a cornerstone player?  If so obviously take them, but if not I am all in favor of stocking up on Day 2 picks.

Just about every year, there are All Pro & Pro Bowl players available at #19.

The Bucs need defensive help in a number of places (eg LB, CB) that don’t require a “cornerstone” type player.  If that was the case they’d probably trade up like they did for Wirfs because they had the NEED.

that’s not saying you don’t grab the BPA there just that they have a lot of needs they could fill later, especially with more pics.

I'm more referring to the qualities of leadership potential and professionalism as well as the skills.  How you practice, what you do in the offseason, locker room leaders.  You need all of that from those guys.  Not to get into the Bowles topic, but the main reason this team stuck together through the hard times is the leadership of those cornerstone players IMO more so than the coaching staff.  Maybe a Mike Green has the skills, but not the leadership.  Maybe they love Ezierauku but he doesn't quite have the 1st round talent.  Then you can't overdraft him just because he is a good leader.  There has to be a guy that Licht says "Thats the guy we want" with no hesitation. This was the case with Kancey and Barton.  If not then trade out.
