If there's a GM dumb enough to trade a 1st for Godwin, you take it in a heartbeat.
Call me crazy, but I think Godwin is our best player with Wirfs right there with him. This two should be foundational pieces not trade bait.

I agree.
Since there are a lot of comparisons of where the Bucs are at with where Seattle was a year ago the SEA decided to keep Metcalf even though they traded away RW. Keeping Godwin ensures either Trask or a drafted QB has a shot of developing especially with Evans lined up on the other side.
Godwin is one of my favorite Bucs players, so I'm not at all partial to trading him. There are numerous other players who offer considerably less value to the team who should be traded or released.
IF there are other ways of solving the Bucs cap problem without pushing it into 2024, I'm all in favor o If they can solve their cap problems without losing the fan favorites then I'm all in favor of that. Why wouldn't I be? I don't think it's going to be that easy, but I'll be glad to be wrong about that. We'll see what kind of solutions they come up with.
You're right, it won't be easy. It will be interesting to see how the FO gets out of this cap jam.
Godwin isn't so much as trade bait as he is a way to get the Bucs out of salary cap hell.Call me crazy, but I think Godwin is our best player with Wirfs right there with him. This two should be foundational pieces not trade bait.
Godwin isn't better than Evans... so no, he isn't our best player. He's top 5 IF he returns to form which remains the be seen...
Taking into account age and health our best player in order:
Wirfs
Evans (go yell at a wall if you disagree)
Winfield
Vea
Dean
Davis
Godwin
David (would be much higher if not for age)
R White
Mason
Barrett
SMB
Jensen
JTS
Hainsey
D White
Hall/Goedeke
the worst thing this franchise can do is trade Evans and Godwin.
those two made Jamies winston serviceable and are an asset to any young QB we try to develop.
Lets trade away our good young players. Awesome idea!
Hey yeah, let's trade away our best offensive players -- 2 of the best in team history -- and then spend all year complaining about the offense, blaming Canales and blaming Bowles. Ya know, if we're gonna have an average QB (at best), the only chance we have is to at least have good receivers...

This is what the BChaves8's don't want to understand. There are hard choices to be made this offseason. That means something's gotta give. We may keep Godwin. I haven't heard anything coming from the or OneBuc about trading him. If we do that, then there are a lot of other hard choices that have to be made. Trading Godwin may make it possible to sign Wirfs and Winfield. It may make it possible to keep Lavonte David. If you can clear enough space due to Godwin's salary being gone, it may make it possible to invest in a good QB in 2024. I don't know, but I do know that Godwin is the most expensive (not overpaid by any means) player still on the team. Godwin has a lot of value for the Bucs, but he has even more value to a contending team. Building a winning team is Priority 1.
But again, I haven't heard any rumblings from anywhere about trading Godwin. So we'll see what they do to get under the cap, which apparently has to happen soon. If they can keep Godwin around that's great. If they keep Godwin and David both I'd be shocked. Then Licht really must have a magic wand hidden away in his office.
Absolutely not.
Do not trade Chris Godwin, ridiculously bad idea.
Trade Evans or Gage.
not Godwin.
@donkey_hunter lol why?
well beyond his prime.
holds equally if not more value then Godwin.
would take a 2nd for him all day.
paying 3 WR 10 mil plus when you’re 55 mil over the cap isn’t feasible
