If they knew something was seriously wrong in the 4th qtr he wouldn't have been standing all by himself on the sideline
I'm not saying they knew something was seriously wrong in the 4th quarter. But they eventually realized he was injured badly enough to not return to the game. The decision to send him to the hospital came later, obviously.
Multiple things are true in this situation. He was rocked but stayed in the game
True.
benched because he was playing terrible and they wanted to see Brady
Speculation. Probably poor speculation, because he was playing terrible before he was rocked - and they still sent him out for another drive. Again, if your speculation was true, they would have sent Brady out at the first opportunity they had. But they didn't.
You're reaching here, and it's getting pathetic.
they found out later the injury was serious.
True. But you understand guys are pulled from the game all of the time without that injury being serious/life-threatening.
Bledsoe was clearly injured. He tried to tough it out until he couldn't anymore, at which point Brady was sent in. The doctors finally insisted he go the hospital, and he begrudgingly went to the hospital even though he wanted to go home. He, nor anybody else, knew how serious the injury was. But he and they knew he was injured. This really isn't that controversial.
. He was injured but not bad enough to have to leave the game.
he went to the hospital
So did Chris Simms
JC, look no further than this thread to see why I say you're mostly a troll. You started by posting mostly FICTION about Bledsoe's replacement story being fiction lmao . . and then its just back pedal from there, obscuring whatever point you were trying to make
How many losses do you pin on Mayfield?
I'd say a lot more than what you think. Check out page 12 of the Panthers at Bucs thread to see how Mayfield has possibly lost games for us.
Definitely more than Mr. AB 2.0 will care to acknowledge.
Mayfields worst QB rated games were against Car (we won), Phi, Det, Buf, and SF, games we were projected to lose. So he's not losing games that we should have won. He's had two fumbles lost, tied with Brock Purdy. He got sacked six times vs. Indy and still completed 20 of 30 passes. Of course we can all agree the Houston game's blame goes to the defense. The biggest disappointments of the season were the Falcons game where he completed 66% for 275 and 1 INT. The Houston game was totally on the D. Mayfield played well that game. And the Indy game where he didn't get protection.
Mayfield is the 19th rated QB, which is pretty much where he belongs. At the beginning of the year, if you said he'd be the 19th rated quarterback most of us would have considered that above expectations. Most people had him rated 25th or worse if you remember. You'd be hard pressed to find anybody who rated him higher than that. PFF had him 28th. NFL.com had him 25th. So if you want to say he's not winning us games. No he isn't. If you want to say he's not a great QB, you're right he isn't. And in that respect I guess he's losing games as compared to a top ten QB who would have won more games certainly. That's what your Page 12 info basically says. He's not that great. It doesn't say how he pulled a Mac Jones and threw an INT to lose the game.
Mayfield does not deserve to be benched because of his play. That's a simple fact. He's doing what he was brought here to do. It's the rest of the team that is underperforming. If you want to bench Mayfield because the season's over and you want to see what Trask can do, that's fine. But if you think that Trask would be higher than 19th rated QB in the league you're dreaming.
I mean damn Trask Force. Talk about checkmate. Excellent spot on post

Yeah, quite the checkmate when the logic is essentially “who cares if he played like shit, we weren’t supposed to win anyways”.
Not surprised coming from AB 2.0
Mayfield is the new Leftwich. Anyone with basic “football acumen” would tell you so.
:-)

Check!
I'm pretty sure if the staff knew he would be in the bottom half in adjusted QBR, PAA and EPA and be at the bottom in deep ball accuracy and close to it in yards per attempt and yards per catch, and that he'd throw as many INT's has he has now, that he wouldn't have won the job over Trask. Baker looks gun shy at times. At other times he's staring down his receivers. He's relying on the outs way too much and not taking the crossing routes that are there and designed to pull the coverage horizontally to open more stuff up, including the running lanes. He's had at least one batted pass in all but one game and had another 8-10 interception worthy plays. He's leading the offense to a 20% conversion of downs on all 1st and 2nd downs, leading to a lot of 3rd downs, which is quite bad, and is why he has so many drives of 3-5 plays and punt.
The bottom line is this: He's holding the offense back and costing us at least 10 points a game.
Now you want me to believe that Trask can't possibly do better, even though I saw none of those behaviors in his preseason play behind a worse offensive line and playing with mostly 3rd and 4th string receiving targets? I'm not buying what you are selling. We just had the Bengals and Jags playing with backup QB's and hitting over 30 points. We saw the THIRD STRING QB beat our asses last year in San Fran (why was that guy the 3rd string QB...the staff clearly KNEW he would suck, right?) and he's now their starter and just laid 42 points on Phily's ass. What part of this do some of you seriously not get? I mean really? Are you all really so dumb that you can't acknowledge that Trask could be the savior of this team, or he could be the ultimate loser? But YOU DON'T KNOW, SO STOP TELLING US YOU DO! We don't know either but we want to see before we need to use another valuable draft pick on a QB.

Admire the Trask loyalty but the problem with posts like this is your guy LOST to the QB you are describing and is still on the bench even though the coaching staff is fighting for its life . . . LITERALLY (Bugs, thats a way of emphasizing my point)
I dont think there is a single poster here saying Mayfield is great. There are several saying he is not the sole cause of the Bucs record. BUT, unless you think there is some kind of conspiracy afoot to hold Trask back, your posts are sort of like saying the Bucs are better than the Falcons who beat them and who are ahead of them in the standings . . . because of they have a better roster.
Oh

now it all makes sense
when did sports stop being about competition and actual results?
“you are what your record says you are”

As for INTs. He has 8 INTs, less than one per game. Stafford has 9, Smith 9, Mahomes 10, Hurts 10. No info on "interception worthy plays". I'm sure they all had some. You also are totally ignoring the major problem with the offense which was the interior offensive line. Mayfield maneuvered out of numerous sack situations.I'm pretty sure if the staff knew he would be in the bottom half in adjusted QBR, PAA and EPA and be at the bottom in deep ball accuracy and close to it in yards per attempt and yards per catch, and that he'd throw as many INT's has he has now, that he wouldn't have won the job over Trask. Again, what exactly do you think Trask would have done in the same scenario? It's hilarious about how Trask has been the whipping boy for so long on this board as being a wasted draft pick. Now suddenly he's the next coming of Joe Montana.
What record do you think the Bucs would have right now if Trask was the QB from the start?
Anyway, you may get your wish. The rumblings are that he will start once the Bucs are basically eliminated. This would have been this week if they lost to the Panthers. If they lose to the Falcons they are basically out of it. I hope he does get his chance and does well, but that will be with an improving O-line. That would give the Bucs options next year, but I still hope they draft a QB in the first round.

Instead of putting this on Trask, why not put it on Bowles, who made this decision. He's the one that wanted Baker here in the first place. He's the one that struggles to pull guys off the field when they're not performing. I mean...D. White...HELLO! This decision isn't about Trask. It's about Bowles and his stupid stubbornness. If he'd pull his head from his ass and objectively look at the situation and make an objective decision, he'd pull Baker and put Trask in to see if the move can spark more points, especially if he saw what two rookies did in the Cincy/Jax game, or what the former 3rd round pick has done to him TWICE. I can't help that he's being stupid.
