Ehh too small a sample size.
Oh, so now 4 games is too small of a sample size.
Your flip-flopping is epic, Mr. "Baker is Having His Best Year as a Pro...It's Easy to Look Up"
🤡🤡🤡
clown? Aren’t you the guy that pretends to have sources
“just got an interesting text” then doesn’t share the info and nothing happens.
🤡 🤡
He’s gotta be close to his best year? With the Browns, right? At a minimum this has to be his best of the last several?
The competition was never real.
Good grief. That sounds like a Noles fan saying Winston wasn’t to blame for all those interceptions.
of course Trask had a chance to beat him out
remind me again about how Gator love has nothing to do with this.
Are you really this effing stupid? Or do you just play as a dumb ass? The only way Trask could start over Baker is if Baker went out there and threw picks left and right and Trask looked like Brady incarnate. Even then it would be iffy. The competition was in name only. Todd was starting Baker pretty much no matter what.
Oh, and to the individual saying Baker's having his best year...um...no...2020 was his best and he's had a couple more mediocre years that were slightly better. But just keep on keeping on.
I knew it! I'm surrounded by assholes! Keep firing assholes! (puts face shield down).

yes very close but of course "debatable Dans" wont use statistics
this point all becomes moot if Bucs fall out of contention and think highly enough to start Trask final 4 games. That remains to be seen as most knowledgeable fans have already written off Trask (que the AB 2.0 comeback while some hot take Trask as the future lmao)
He's on pace to finish with 3,953 yards, 26 touchdowns, 11 INTs, a completion % of 63.6
His highest completion # year was in 2018 with 63.8%. He also had 27 touchdowns to 14 INTs.
One can argue 2020 would be up there with 26 touchdowns and 8 INTs with a 62.8% completion percentage.
The yardage total would be his highest
Point remains arguably his best year, albeit not good enough but still something to see how the next 5 games play out. He gets benched with playoffs out of reach, then yes, obviously the projections wont come to fruition but at this point to say he isn't trending there is just ignorant cry baby behavior.
this point all becomes moot
Mayfield is playing for his next contract. That is LITERALLY his purpose. Given his past reputation the BEST way for him to do that THIS SEASON is to show the NFL world that he can play WITHIN an offense and the Cananles offense is PERFECT for him because of its emphasis on short, easier throws and RUNNING. Mayfield is playing within the Canales offense (often to a fault) and he IS having a career year when he needs it.
The downside to that has been things like the diminishes role of Godwin, the sometimes diminished offense etc. But, the Trask heat (coming heavily from Gator fans) is over-the-top because the team's problem OVERALL are as much the defense and lack of running game. ON the defense look no further than the LAST Falcons game and you'll see one reason there is less heat on the defense and that is the final score. But, this is something that the "football acumen" crew should see through because not for some incredible self-destruction by turnovers (and an almost magic turnover play by Winfield) the Falcons EASILY . . .easily . . put up 3 more touchdowns. Thats how lopsided the game was. Just look at the drives, its' right there . . in the "film" and the "All-22" . . . but its NOT here on the board. Weird, right?
For two seasons fans mostly ignore the weak and declining defense (Bowles PRIMARILY skill) and so last year it was the OC and this year Mayfield.
How about its just not a very good team?
Football outcomes are almost NEVER the result of ONE person because everything . . everything .. in football is related. to that point, if we were a BETTER running team, Godwin and Evans likely have even better stats and Otton/Tompkins/Palmer is lighting it up

all of that ^^^^^ summarized in advance metrics (the language of "football acumen," supposedly lol) by Ledyard . . . for the "Debatable Dans" to IGNORE
"The #Bucs are 15th in offensive EPA/play this season, 13th in dropback EPA/play. Their offense isn't great, but it's solid and improving. Their defense is 27th in EPA/play this season, and 32nd in dropback EPA/play. Their defense is horrible, and getting worse.
and some "coach speak" to also ignore:
"You can’t eliminate those takeaways from that game. But the fact of the matter is, the Falcons moved the ball well on the Bucs defense. Run game coordinator and defensive line coach Kacy Rodgers acknowledged as much in his Thursday press conference."
The thing is, if we look back at it, we got some takeaways, but those takeaways, they were going in the end zone to score,” Rodgers said. “So you could look at it like that could’ve been another 14 points.”
That’s only the takeaways, too. Another 62-yard drive ended with a field goal from the 5-yard line. A 40-yard drive later in the game ended with a field goal just outside the red zone at the 23. Atlanta put up 401 yards of offense on Tampa Bay, but only managed 16 points. The Falcons were 1-of-5 on scoring touchdowns in the red zone."
Let me see if I can find some player's wife speaking out because we all know that is GOSPEL . . except . . well . . when its based on coach speak (I think thats the rule here lol)
The ledyard quote above is from a Sports Illustrate article entitled,
Buccaneers Quarterback Dilemma: Is it Time to Search for the Future Beyond Baker Mayfield?"
In that article there is talk of the four top DRAFT prospects
There is literally no mention of Trask as the future option, as far as I can tell by a quick scan
And, the author even rules out Mayfield staying on the basis that he is probably DUE A BIGGER CONTRACT that the Bucs probably dont want to pay
Its NOT coincidence that the outside world seems to see a different Bucs than many here on the RB, right? Express these kinds of opinions here and get called a p...y and a bunch of other names LMAO
crazytown
Oh, and to the individual saying Baker's having his best year...um...no...
He made that statement as a definitive one. Banging his chest and yelling “look it up”.
Notice now, the backtracking and moving of goalposts.
Fact is, he’s averaging less YPG (less than 2018 and 2019). A higher INT% than he did in 2020. A lower TD% than he did in 2018 and 2020. A lower QBR than 2019 and 2020. And, his PFF grades in 2018, 2019, and 2020 were significantly better (also trending to have the lowest BTT% of his career other than last year and the highest TWP% of his entire career).
Keep in mind, this is with the best receiving group he’s ever had and the most QB-friendly system he’s ever been in.
Do you really want to bring in a new system and have to start over again?
Of course not.
I’d love to see Canales in his 2nd year without Bowles influence and with a QB who actually has upside.
Unforunately, when Todd gets canned next month, Dave will most likely be part of the firings.
Did he not get a chance to start a preseason game? Did he not get the reps in training camp? They may have had a preconceived notion that Mayfield would win, but they still gave Trask a chance to do stuff. Trask's main problem is he never caught a break from a QB being injured. Brady never missed a game. Now Mayfield hasn't missed a game. Usually that's how a QB gets his chance. But they do know a lot about Trask from the years of practices and preseasons. And it's not all bad. He did OK this preseason. But if he was the next Brett Favre we'd know it. Some posters are pretending that he's a total unknown and that's just not the case. The competition was never real.
Good grief. That sounds like a Noles fan saying Winston wasn’t to blame for all those interceptions.

Probably so. But most assume that the best thing is to look for an offensive HC based on the idea that the Bucs defense is fine. Now it's not fine. You have some pieces, but the defense needs a major overhaul. So maybe you bring in a defensive HC and keep Canales. The risk is the same, that the new guy would mainly stick to the defense and be hands off the offense. We need a leader of men. A guy like Tomlin who can take over and actually be a head coach instead of a coordinator masquerading as a head coach. But I agree it's a long shot that Canales is still here next year. It's just how the NFL works.Do you really want to bring in a new system and have to start over again?
Of course not.

I think we finish 7-10 and everyone is back in the same capacity, including Mayfield with a terrible contract.
Stephen King's novels were not half as scary as your post.I think we finish 7-10 and everyone is back in the same capacity, including Mayfield with a terrible contract.

haha but he's not wrong
we are all thinking Bowles is gone at 7-10 or worse but would you be surprised? Vegas expectations was 6 wins so its not like he underachieved like he did in 2022.
i think 8-9 and a division win and he keeps his job. Think very little chance he gets fired with back to back playoff appearances. good lord, could you imagine the NAACP. Put that % at less than 1.
If Bowles returns, then yes likely Mayfield is re-signed. This would mean Bucs went on a bit of a run and made playoffs.
if we get a new head coach, which we all hope, then all bets are off. who knows.
i would think at most, Mayfield is a bridge QB to the real answer...Kyle Tr.....er...a first round draft pick in either 2024 or 2025 draft.
