Again, I am not saying a change would be right or wrong because youd have to see the change to KNOW, I am just saying that under the parameters that even you concede its unlikely.
I guess we should all get off the forums and stop discussing what we think should happen, then.
It's the running QBs who get injured, such as Fields. I'm not advocating for that. Prescott and Hurts don't have more injuries than your average QB. Josh Allen gets injured because he doesn't slide enough. The game is changing to favor more mobile QBs. Anyway, if you think that Trask is going to be a top 10 QB in this league I think you are deluding yourself. If he was that good, he'd be starting right now. He had a preseason to "compete" and he showed what he can do. He's OK. He's not great. If he does that against the 49ers or Eagles I'd eat crow. If he does it against the Panthers I wouldn't put that much stock in it. Again, we've seen him in preseason games. He has "functional" mobility, but not great mobility. We don't need to have the next Lamar Jackson, but escapability to confound the defense and complete a pass when they think they have you sacked. And to run for a 15 yard first down now and then when everything breaks down. Trask can move around in the pocket, but he odesn't have the level of mobility on the level of Dak, Hurts, Trevor Lawrence etc. That's what I'd like to see for the Bucs. That's something Nix, McCarthy, Sanders, Daniels and probably Penix as well all have. Do they have the other important aspects like pinpoint passing and great presnap recognition? I don't know that's a topic for another thread. But the mobility is an important factor, that's what you need in today's NFL to be great IMO. Trask doesn't have that level of mobility.
He had more than enough mobility. The GOAT was considerably less mobile, even in his prime, and still won the Super Bowl in 2020, and went 13-4 in 2021.Most QB's that have elite mobility end up getting injured a lot and pretty much always have short careers unless they learn to stay in the pocket whenever possible.

Would you, and others who say this, please do us all a favor and just fricken stop!? NOBODY...and I do mean NOBODY thought Brady would be a top 10 QB from the bench. Nobody thought Young would be a HOF QB. Nobody thought grocery bagging Kurt Warner would be all that. Hell, just look at Purdy! Let me spell it to you in all caps so that it sinks in: NOBODY KNOWS WHAT TRASK CAN DO UNTIL HE GETS A FEW STARTS WITH THE FRICKEN STARTERS!!
Kabish?
Give the man a chance and let's see. Someone's going to be right, but we won't know if he doesn't get a chance. And if he doesn't get a chance, we'll have wasted a pick, and then, even worse, need to compound it by spending a high pick on yet another QB to see if that will work. I don't really see why this is hard. Just please stop falling on that "if he was so good he wouldn't be on the bench" mentality. I'm pretty sure Dan Mullen realized he f'ed up playing Franks over him once Kyle HAD to come off the bench and play. That must have been an eye opener for him.
Can we admit that with an uninspiring win that baker will start next week?
so why debate this week?
it’s like suggesting Bowles should be fired. Maybe if they lost
big week this week. If Baker puts up 7 points by half, keep Trask ready to come in relief.
that being said, Baker will start next week

pot stirrer lol
They already basically know what Trask can do. They've seen him play in practice and preseason.
Just when I thought this fan base couldn't get any more embarrassingly stupid.

Well shit, let's just shut down the forum then. Why debate at all when we can all just sit here with our thumbs up our asses and just see what happens.
Maybe we like talking about what we think the team should do? Maybe we have some hope, even if it's a tiny sliver, that Todd will pull his head from his ass and realize that Baker ain't getting it done, so let's see what the kid that, by many people's accounts, played better than him during preseason? But seriously, if you don't want to discuss the merits of what should and shouldn't be done...you don't have to.
I think most of us enjoy talking about what is happening with the team and what we think they should do.
so should team start trask next week?
again, let’s hear your educated opinion after 12 games with shit mayfield. One game out in a must win, who should they start?
If Baker plays like this next week, we'll get killed. He seems to be getting worse by the game. If it were me, we'd never be in this spot as Trask would have started game 1 as it was better for the long-term health of the franchise. But yes, I'd start Trask over Baker because Baker keeps screwing up. His performance and his sudden rash of turnovers warrant the move.
Purdy is a great example. Last player drafted. 3rd string behind Garopollo and Lance. Due to injuries, he gets his chance last season and blows away the Bucs in his first start as a rookie. Plays so good he keeps those other guys on the bench. Goes on to become an MVP candidate this season. You just don't know how a player will respond in real games with the starters until he gets his chance.

definitely true that you never know until real games BUT the 49ers are everything the Bucs are not in terms of supporting a QB. Trask wouldn't have anywhere close to that kind of support.

Bowles wont play Trask even if the Bucs lose the next 3 weeks. Bowles probably wants to sign Baker Mayfield to a 3 year 75 million contract.

Won’t have time to watch the All-22 until tonight.
But, did watch the condensed replay this morning.
And, HOLY SHIT, it was bad. I mean, freaking awful.
Definitely regression in there, and this is up there as one of his worst outings.
As usual, the most popular player on a losing team is the backup QB. Mayfield is not the problem on this team. He had a poor game in a bad weather situation against the Panthers, but he's had to deal with a green OC and an O-line in transition and he hasn't done badly at that. He's met the expectations for him to be a game manager QB. You are kidding yourself if you think Trask would have done any better. You now think Trask is going to throw five touchdowns or something. This is not the 49ers. I do hope Trask gets his chance, for his sake. But as for the Bucs, nothing is going to change because of a QB change. If Trask can play middle linebacker then he could come in and solve a problem. But QB isn't a problem that needs to be solved.
Mayfield is not the problem on this team
YES, Baker is a major problem with this team.
No you don't. You have been a Trask hater from day 1.I do hope Trask gets his chance, for his sake.
