Evans >>>> Godwin
Yes the injury and he's not in the slot enough but let's get serious... some here were saying that Godwin was better after he has that amazing season.
The irony, is that his best season (2019), was the one that saw him take the least amount of snaps from the slot.
But, agreed on the comparison. It's always been Mike. The offense has, does, and will always flow through him.
Future HoF'er.
@biggs3535 he had his first drop this past week. They even brought it up in the game when it happened.
OK, well he must have had two drops in the game because he's got two on the season. And again, that doesn't count the drop in the EZ that I have no doubt Godwin would tell you was a drop.
And FTR, I wouldn't take to much of what announcers say seriously. One of them was calling Devin White "Devin Smith" multiple times in one game.
That was the SF game... Moose I believe
I believe you are right. I couldn’t recall which game, but I think that was it.

Arians when he arrived
“"I think Chris Godwin is going to be close to a 100-catch guy, especially because I think he can play in the slot," said Arians. "He's never coming off the field."
he put Godwin in the Hines Ward Larry Fitzgerald role
worth the watch
playing the slot role is literally what elevated Godwin. They moved him outside this year and people wonder why he’s disappeared a bit in some games
Article ranking Godwin as 6th best slot receiver all time
“Godwin has been one of the NFL’s most prolific slot receivers since he amplified his overall presence in the 2019 season — his third in the league after the Bucs selected him in the third round of the 2017 draft out of Penn State. Last season, Godwin caught 74 slot passes on 104 targets 759 yards. No touchdowns, but Godwin took care of just about everything else from the slot.
Godwin is one of the NFL’s better receivers at two things, and that’s regardless of alignment — finding zones in opposing defenses, and winning contested-catch battles. He exhibited both of these attributes in this 28-yard catch against the Steelers’ Cover-2 in Week 6. Godwin leveraged slot cornerback Arthur Maulet up the seam, and then when safety Tre Norwood came over to help, Godwin worked them both for the catch.”
In 2019 Godwin misses time with injury but still is way up in targets over 2018 and he goes from roughly 20% out of the slot in 2018 to 50%+ out of the slot in 2019
that’s Arians moving him to the Hines Ward role
he excelled because it plays to his skills

Firebowles,
That stat is actually on PFF’s premium site.
But, I think there’s a few others that have snap percentages from slot vs. wide.
Regardless, his most productive year by far was in 2019. And, since that season, he saw less and less snaps from out wide (not counting this year…with new offense).

Coach speak?
"I think [Evans] is a first-ballot Hall of Famer," Canales said. "His career speaks for itself. The way that he's able to find access and get open in any scenario, I would have to give it to Mike. I don't want to take anything away from Tyler [Lockett], Doug Baldwin, D.K. [Metcalf] -- who are fantastic players. This is a guy who kind of puts it all together and he's six-five with that length and we've seen in games, too, where he can flat out run by guys still at this point. He really does have it all."”
Godwin is sit down in zones, Evans is run by the CB.
This is the premise of your argument. The problem with your premise, is that it isn't true.
The Bucs today describing Evans:
"According to NFL Next Gen Stats, the Panthers only gave the Buccaneers man-to-man looks on five of Mayfield's dropbacks, but he made them count, primarily by looking to Evans, one of the premiere man-coverage beaters in the NFL."

Ranked #7 against Man coverage and ranked #7 against Zone coverage.
Ranked 8th in receiving yards.
Ranked 2nd in TD receptions.
Mike Evans is the Bucs #1 receiver for sure, but theres a pretty easy argument that he's not really a true #1
Uh huh.
