What year is it?
Winston and Mariota threw tuddies yesterday.
Had to do a double take...
Wonder if either might be available for trade? Extra running back and all that ;-)

yeah, when we really had no hope or the team would come alive when the season was already lost
2015 - Sitting at 6-6 in Winstons rookie year, lose out the last quarter finish 6-10
2016 - Sitting at 3-5, rally off 5 straight wins, only to lose to 2 out of 3, finish 9-7. too little too late. Lost out to Detroit for final wild card spot due to tie breaker
2017 - started 4-6, finished 5-11
2018 - The Fitzmagic year. Started 2-0, finished 5-11
2019 - started 3-7, won 4 in a row to be 7-7, then lose the last 2 to finish 7-9. Final wild card spot was a 10 win team so never really had a shot.
thats some pretty season is over by Halloween type shit right there. Brady spoiled us and good to see the competitive football continuing in the Baker era
Would Mariota and Winston have had different careers if we took Mariota first and Titans took Winston second?
The answer is no but I thought I'd ask

yeah that's an easy one. i like the hypothetical of Patrick Mahomes. Dude is on the mount rushmore of QBs
but what if he was drafted by the Browns, Jets, or Panthers. Would he be on the mount rushmore, or would he be closer to say Josh Allen, Lamar Jackson status, or a bust?
The Chiefs were a great opportunity of joining a perennial playoff team, arguably one of the best offensive coaches of all time, and good supporting cast. Not taking anything away form him but curious how he would have been on a shit franchise. I am guessing he'd be a top 5 QB in the NFL today in the Allen/Jackson category and now how he is currently in the league of his own.

no I don’t think so but that draft highlights why it’s not easy to grade a GM. They are 100% taking a QB. Every Buc fans revolts if they do not. And because they are 100% taking a QB they are 100% taking Winston because of the fan drive.

Exactly
this is why a players career is such a crap shoot.
55 Brooks is an immeduate HOFer, deservedly so. LVD has some similar stats but not the same.
Brooks played during the golden era where the defense was eventually named after the team lol
LVD played on some mediocre teams that “only won because of Brady

Winston is who he is. I don’t see his trajectory changing any with Whisenhunt and company.
I would argue Mariota could be different. I would love to drop into the alternate reality where Tampa takes and see what Dirk Koetter would have done with Mariota. Maybe no change, but interesting thought experiment.
Honestly those winston years wouldnt have been so bad if we had a competent kicker when he was with Koetter

you kinda gotta win to be remembered, which i think is a fair point can you make the people around you better. I think theres some intangibles that go into HOF voting for example Kuechly is outperformed statwise by LVD but when you get into it Kuechly is HOF lock because he knew how to make everyone better and called out every offensive play. He was a nightmare for offenses. Bobby wagner even gets in before him because of Superbowls and Allpros. I think LVD and Rice in the eyes of the media played too much of a cog role. He also doesnt like to be in the media so that also affects his notoriety
I still think LVD is an all pro HOF player just sucks we couldnt win. Schiano LVD was his all time meta prime, ive never seen a more dominant year from a LB he was living in the backfield every ....single...game.
LVD is one of the best downhill backers i've seen its such a shame he got put into Lovies system where its straight up zone. Absolute dominance wasted. Also a shame Devin white took the downhill role from him in Bowles defense. If I could rewind time let him do more of what he did in schiano defense which is attack gaps and play downhill and match, Dear God he would put up 150tk 5 sacks 3 int 3FF every single year

great post
I am a big LVD fan, even bigger Brooks fan for a number of reasons. I recall early on people comparing LVD to Brooks and thinking now way. Not because of LVD but because Brooks was incredible. Here we are years later and LVD is in the same ballpark, but not thought of in the same way. And it’s for some of the reasons you mention
