Updated 2014 Tampa Bay Buccaneers Seven Round Mock DraftBy Corey Brewer - Dec 20th, 2013 at 5:26 pm Mock_Zps9Bb5353B.jpgJohn Rieger-USA TODAY SportsThe Buccaneers almost have all the talent they need to win. With some added depth along with a change in the coaching staff, I believe next years Bucs team is going to be one of the most improved teams in the league. The Buccaneers have picks in rounds 1,2,4,5 and 7. ROUND 1 – LB – Khalil Mack – Buffalo The Buccaneers need to improve the pass rush. Khalil Mack would help them achieve that goal. He has been one of the most consistent defensive players all season. He is very fast and is a very hard-hitter. He has a nose for the ball and is in on every play no matter where on the field. He has climbed his way into the top 10 on many draft boards and is still rising. ROUND 2 – TE – Austin Seferian-Jenkins – Washington Tim Wright has had a solid season for the Bucs, but he is no number one target. Seferian-Jenkins fits in with the new breed of tight ends in the NFL. He is a large body with great hands and great speed. He was originally slated as the number one tight end in the class at the beginning of the year, but with the success of Jace Amaro and Eric Ebron, he has fallen off. ROUND 4 – OT – Seantrel Henderson – OT – Miami This guy is a monster. At 6’7’’ and 345 lbs, he is similar to former first round pick, DJ Fluker. He has great footwork and can hold up the line on either end. He was once thought to be the most talented offensive lineman recruit in college football when he was a freshman. Henderson has missed some time due to injury and a couple off the field incidents, but he has the most potential of any lineman on the middle rounds. ROUND 5 – QB – Aaron Murray – Georgia Aaron Murray is one of the most decorated quarterbacks in college football history. He broke multiple SEC records in his senior season at Georgia. Unfortunately, records and stats do not have any bearing on NFL potential. If Murray was three inches taller he would be 2-3 round talent. His lack of size will cause him to drop. He has one of the best minds in college football and could develop into a very solid NFL quarterback if given the right coaching and opportunities. ROUND 7 – WR – Eric Ward – Texas Tech Ward is the second best target in the Red Raiders high-flying offense, right behind Jace Amaro. Texas Tech has had one of the biggest passing offenses in college football for years now and Ward is a big beneficiary of that. He has been put in the position to make some great catches over his career. He projects to be a very high upside slot receiver in the NFL. Ward’s athleticism is his biggest feature. He is fast and is an experienced route runner. He would be a great addition to the Bucs offense. http://thepewterplank.com/2013/12/20/updated-2014-tampa-bay-buccaneers-seven-round-mock-draft/

This is where I start to lose people reading their mocks, everyone knows we need to improve the pass rush but it's when they start talking about doing it from the LBer position when it's the DE position that is the one that really hurts us the most.We really need to find that"War Daddy" DE who can come in and just wreck a QBs day and help McCoy on the line, not another LBer.You can only rush so many LBers at once before leaving massive holes on the field for the offense to exploit, we have to be able to generate a pass rush from the front 4 and then the LBer sacks are just gravy.Say we draft a rushing LBer, that means we're either taking away pass rush opportunities from David OR having to do that most hated of things which is drop linemen back into coverage. This idea of a pass rushing LBer reminds me a fair bit of all the talk of a better secondary getting us way more d line sacks and look how that worked out.

This mock draft makes the most sense out of anyone I have seen so far.  Sure I have the picks I like, but this is the most well rounded and realistic.  I just wonder how and where Khalil would fit in consistently?  It looks like he was in a 3-4 defense in school.  I say if we take this guy, I would want him to take someones DE spot, he is better at any position you rush from on our team now.  I just cant see him taking watsons spot.  And I agree, we need someone who can rush the passer all the time, and not from the LB position that would leave holes.  Great job on the mock, I love it!!

TB - there are a lot of analysts that say that Mack can be a 4-3 rush end as well as play LB, so that's why the pick. I actually like this draft a lot, but I have my doubts that we can get the last 3 on the list. In another thread I mentioned that if we can get a legit pass rushing DE in Free Agency this year, I would like to see us get a a game changing WR like Sammy Watkins with our 1st pick.

If we are going to get a TE in the first few rounds i want Ebron. Don't want Mack. He isn't an every down player. We need a situational edge rusher. Need to address that in free agency rather than spending a premium pick on a situational player. Jon Abraham would have been perfect for this defense.

If we are spending our first round pick on DE its gotta be Clowney or bust.

I'm with you on getting a vet at DE and going wideout to give whoever the QB is at least some options out there, our offense is severely limited by overall lack of talent at skill positions and I'm not sold that any of the rookie QBs will any good.IMO one of the biggest reasons our young d line has struggled through the past few years is the lack of a true vet who knows what it takes to get it do and show them how to be an NFL player. The only one who seems to be living up to potential is McCoy and that's because he and Sapp have a relationship. If Dom must over pay for a name player again this year he has to do whatever it takes to land Jared Allen, sure he's lost a step but he's just the type of player to fit the vet role we desperately need.

6'3" 250...scares me. Unlike Simoen Rice who was about the same weight coming out of school at 6'3" he doesn't have the frame like Rice did to keep adding weight to play DE.

I doubt that we will have a shot for Clowney because Atlanta is more than likely picking ahead of us and we just don't have enough spare draft picks to move up. I think it's going to be easier to get a decent rush end in Free Agency, there are a mess of Cowboy's ends possibly hitting the market along with Allen, I think I'd rather attempt to address that hole there and get a true game breaker at wide receiver. Our depth at WR is horrible, far worse IMO than the defensive line.

Does Von Miller fit Denver's 4-3 defense?  Khalil Mack would be a great addition for the Bucs D.  I think Mack will blow up the combine and senior bowl end up a top 5 pick, just like Miller did.  Won't shock me at all if Mack goes before Barr.  We need a speed pass rusher both Mack and Barr fit the mold.

Same height as Teo with more talent in his pinky. He'll never play at 280 but if he can put on about 15 pounds and maintain the speed, Mack will be a dominant, every down pass rusher.
