While it would be nice to win, and yes a win would help us continue to control our destiny, the critical wins are beating the saints and panthers
falcons after the panthers have the colts bears and saints. So we’d need 2 out of those 3 being losses and Bucs would still win division. Entirely possible
that being said, yeah let’s beat the packers so we can control our destiny
This is a playoff game. Making the playoffs without winning this game is nearly impossible.
i still dont get that.
Are you assuming the Falcons, who are not very good, can't finish 2-2? They are @ Carolina, vs Colts, @ Bears, and @ Saints. I mean none of those games are gimme wins. Carolina looks helpless but being at home gives us some hope for an upset, the Colts and Saints are battling for playoffs, and the Bears just upset the Lions.
Saints have the Giants, @Rams, @Tampa, and vs Falcons. Rams and Tampa can be losses which would knock them out.
The most important wins are the 2 division games we have left so we would own any tie breakers.
im with you in terms of wanting the Bucs to win, but how does it knock us out if say the Falcons lose to Carolina? What a loss would do is make us not control our destiny which is different than making playoffs being impossible.
Hell, many would write off the Chiefs from having home field now, but wouldn't shock me if they got it at 12-5 given Baltimore and Dolphins schedules. Low odds of them getting it but odds i wouldn't bet against.

I'm assuming Falcons win @ Carolina. They're horrible and just lost a bunch of their coaches. That means if the Bucs lose this game to the Packers they have to go to 3-0 while the Falcons go 1-2 or 0-3 vs non-playoff teams.
My thinking is the Bucs need to win all the remaining NFC opponent games. Dropping the Jags game isn't the end of the world but have to win at least al three NFC contests which includes two NFCS divisional games.
just lost a bunch of their coaches.
This was portrayed as bad news for the Bucs. The team would be motivated around a new interim coach
The Bucs ARE NOT ahead of the Falcons. Record in common games is 4-3 for the Falcons and 3-3 for the Bucs. The media is making the mistake of not including all of the common games.
What common games are you counting? How do you have the Falcons with 7 common games and only 6 common games for the Bucs?
I have six common games (Vikes, Saints, Lions, Texans, Titans, & Panthers) for each with Tampa being 4-2 and Atlanta 3-3 against those common opponents.
I actually made the mistake. The 12 common games are Carolina 2x, NO 2x, NFC North, AFC South. Bucs are 5-3, Falcons are 4-4.
Yes, those are accurate numbers - with the Falcons 1-1 vs. GB/JAX and the Bucs 1-1 vs. CHI/IND.

but you suggest that the Colts and Saints are non playoff teams when the Colts are currently the 7th seed in the AFC while the Saints are only out by virtue of tie-breaker right now. Also, the Bears are playing much better as of late wining 3 of their last 4 and blowing out the Lions at home this past week. I think the best the Falcons will do is 2-2 to be honest. They are not a good team.
I am 100% with you in the Bucs winning against the Packers gives them a much better chance, but would not suggest the team will feel they are eliminated with a loss.
Falcons have lost 4 out of their last 6; barely beat the Jets in a 13-8 game.
Green Bay was won 4 out of their last 5; likely to be 5 out of their last 6 with a win over the Giants tonight. They are playing some good football. I think we have a shot at 3.5 point underdogs particularly if the offense can put up 24+ points.
getting simple, just got to beat saints in two weeks
getting simple, just got to beat saints in two weeks
Yes but I think the Bucs still need to split the next two contests with one win leading to the Saints game. Jags game will be tough to win but the Bucs are capable of winning against Carolina to force an NFCS divisional showdown with the Saints.
getting simple, just got to beat saints in two weeks
No doubt the Saints game is the most important left on the scheudle.
Beating the Saints and Panthers guarantees the Bucs the division, even with a Jaguars loss
in the scenario where we finish 8-9 with losses to Jaguars and Carolina, we can still miss the playoffs
Saints can lose to us but beat Rams and Falcons to get in. If they lose to one of those teams, then yes, we also clinch that way
the Falcons would essentially have to win out (Colts, Bears, Saints) and end up with a better record to get in. that loss to Carolina was huge.
while we are riding high right now off a convincing win, in no way confident in any game we play, even that panthers game which could mean all the difference in making and missing the playoffs.
Lets focus on jags and stomp these mediocre teams out on our way to the second straight division title, moods are up complacency sets in, holidays around the corner its gotta continue to be a grind. We can feel a sense of a team when you read the fans and media, and as a Bucs fan I dont think we've ever clutched a playoff spot in my entire life as a bucs fan and thats because we get too high and low and read into hype. Even when all we had to do was beat the 4-12 raiders when caddy tore his acl, or when we lost to a 6-10 detroit team 20-23 when it shouldnt have been close. Theres a lot of anger in me those years lol

This
Think I got the scenarios right. Bucs are in REALLY good shape with tiebreaker. I'm talking A+.
Bucs and Saints both control their own destiny.
If Saints lose Thursday at Rams, Bucs clinch NFC South with any two wins, doesn't matter if they lose to Saints.
If Saints win, Bucs clinch NFC South with wins vs Saints and Carolina.
Bucs clinch wild card with any two wins if...
Minnesota loses 1 (vs Lions, vs Packers, @Lions)
AND
Seattle loses 1 (vs Eagles, @Titans, vs Steelers, @ Cardinals)
I outlined 4-6 weeks ago that the path to the playoffs was 5-0 vs CAR 2x, ATL, GB, NO. Looks like the Jaguars game will be insurance for the Saints game.
yepp, that's it
NFC is so bad, 9-8 could easily be enough, no matter division position
with one more win we‘re 100% in
honestly, I didn‘t think that was possible before the season started.
without that stupid loss in houston we could have rested our starters for two weeks

honestly the worst thing we could do.
Picture this. Bucs throw up another 30 burger next week and beat saints - a 5 game win streak and offense clicking; you honestly going to rest starters in week 18?
we already seen how wonderful the bye week was for us earlier in the year. We must learn from our mistakes
