Whatever happens down the stretch here, because with this defense a complete miracle run into the playoffs is not going to happen. We'll probably win a few games to look like we're back in it, and then fall apart, just like we have in so many games.
What was Licht expecting from Vea? Who in the world was he comparing him to that would make him think that he would come here in and be a pass rushing threat? Albert Haynesworth 's good year (who I completely forgot we signed at one point). I think Vea will be a good player, maybe even a better Haloti Ngata, which is nothing to complain about if that guy fit our current defense at all and we didn't pass on a guy who already looks like the best at his position at a position that is costing us lots of games in Derwin James. If Licht just wouldn't have thought he and his scouts were smarter than everyone else in their evaluations of the players he picked, this defense could actually be pretty good right now. This is a repeat of 2016 as well. Unless this team makes the playoffs, which with this secondary is impossible, he should lose his job.
