Fab 5 says there are options. I guess. In WW1 you had the option of staying in the trench and getting poison gas or sticking your head up and getting shot. Can't say you didn't have options!

Rivers: Not leaving California.

Bridgewater: Fine if Drew Brees doesn't retire.

Andy Dalton blah

Eli Manning: Sure I'll race to the box office to buy season tickets if Eli Manning is our starting quarterback!

So the options are Bridgewater or throwing up. at least we have options!

The article proves the opposite of what it set out to show, the chances of getting a veteran starting QB to replace Winston, presumably instead of a rookie, from the FA ranks are slim. If you are going with the Dalton type, you will get a bridge quarterback. Fine. That means you are still spending your draft pick on a quarterback as well. A bridge quarterback just bridges the gap until the rookie is ready so its not instead of a rookie its in addition to a rookie.

This part is where I'm going to get the down votes, but I'm in favor of finding out what Blaine Gabbert can do as long as you are going the bridge QB route. He's had a rough go of it of course, playing poorly but on some bad teams and in some tough situations. Has the school of hard knocks taught him anything? Maybe he can do more than we think he can. Ryan Tannehill is able to be functional. Why can't Gabbert? He knows the offense. By the time he's ready its possible the Bucs could be 2-7. I say give him a shot for a couple games.
