Erin Henderson - LB - Free AgentVikings released LB Erin Henderson.Henderson didn't have a bad 2013 season on the field, seeing action at both middle and strong-side linebacker, but has been arrested for DUI twice since November, and cutting him saves Minnesota $2.1 million in salary cap space. Look for Henderson to draw interest in free agency, perhaps from Tampa Bay. He's a scheme fit for Lovie Smith's defense and has lots of history with new Bucs defensive coordinator Leslie Frazier. Henderson turns 28 in July.Related: VikingsFeb 7 - 3:23 PM
For a reasonable deal...bring him on.

2 DUIs since November? Good thing you don't need to drive to get around Hillsborough/Pinellas.
Won't he be suspended for getting two DUIs? Otherwise, he is a good player. As long as another DUI cancels any guaranteed money...he be a solid signing. I think he'd be an upgrade over Hayward.
Is there going to be a thread like this for every player who gets released and has played for one of our coaches before? lol

You're probably thinking about his brother EJ. Erin Henderson is a good LB.

Barring a draft move I think there's a good chance he could start at MIKE
With a wisely built contract, I'd say go for it.
I assume he'd battle Casillas for the strong-side spot since Watson is a UFA this year...

As is Casillas
I think we'll bring back Watson. He has been getting better each year, will be cheap, and can be a solid situational pass rusher if used correctly. I don't think we bring Hayward back. Hayward is that solid back up that can play multiple positions and is a good special teams player....but he has always been a step too slow and he'll be turning 30 in June. I think it's time to move on. I'm not sure about Casillas. He's cheap, young, and a pretty well rounded linebacker. Probably depends on how he recovers from the injury. I'd say his chances of being back are probably 50/50.So bringing in a guy like Henderson to replace Hayward or Casillas would be an upgrade. I don't think he'd supplant Foster as the starting Mike as someone suggested, but he is a tackling machine and would make a very good addition to our LB corps. The DUIs are troubling, but as long as there is a clause in his contract to protect us...then he should be a very good and very affordable upgrade. He played Mike and Will for the Vikings and finished 3rd in the league in total tackles in 2013. Basically a better version of Casillas. Too bad about the DUIs though. With the first one.....sh!t happens. With the 2nd one.....c'mon man! Really?!
