+1
Glad Zimmer finally got a HC gig. It's about damn time.
Happy for a friend whos a Viking fan.
Good signing by the Vikes. I wonder if having such a great defensive guy as HC will have any affect on Jared Allen staying or leaving.

Good point. I don't think the Vikes can afford him anyway
2nd Best hire of this offseason.Lovie being 1st of course.
I'm definitely interested in seeing how he does. From an outsider fan's perspective he seems like he should have become a head coach a while ago.
That's the most curious thing about him IMO. Guy has been one of the best DC's in the NFL for years, and just now got a HC gig? There's gotta be a reason for that. That said, I think it was a good hire on paper.
He seemed like a real hard nosed d!ck on the Hard Knocks shows. That can work as a DC, but doesn't always pan out as a HC. Time will tell.

why? They don't have a $20 mil QB.
26 mil below the cap

Albert Breer ?@AlbertBreer Credit to the Vikings. One reason Zimmer didn't win in interviews last few years -- He'd be blunt about teams. This shows Vikes can take it.

The reason is, he is a bit of a wildman. He likes to yell and scream, and throws F-bombs around very generously. Someone compared him to Lovie. Zimmer and Lovie are polar opposites. Zimmer is closer to Schiano, than he is to Lovie. But hey, who knows, it may work out for the Vikes.

Vikings can afford him. They have more cap space than we do
Zimmer's wife passed away suddenly in 2009 at the young age of 50. Foul play wasn't suspected but, at the time, her death was considered mysterious especially considering her age.For someone as passionate and emotional as Zimmer, it's not a stretch to think that an event like this would seriously affect him. As an employer, his mental state would most definitely come into question and could have even made teams cross him off their lists.Obviously, this is pure speculation on my part but since we're all wondering why he didn't get a HC gig sooner this possibility came to mind...
