After getting word that second-year defensive tackle Vita Vea won’t need knee surgery, he provided some more hope that he’ll have a quick recovery by returning to practice on Sunday. While Vea wasn’t actually running in any drills and was wearing a knee brace, there is promise in the fact that he was present and walking around on his own without crutches.
The former first round pick in 2018 out of the University of Washington, is once again in familiar territory with a training camp injury sidelining him.

Last year, he suffered a torn calf muscle on the second day of workouts and missed all of the preseason and the first three games of the regular season recovering from the injury and getting into playing shape for the active roster.

When he did comeback, Vea came on strong in the second half of the season and began to show signs of promise, as to why the Bucs had picked him in the top 15 of the draft. He had a career high nine tackles in a December game in Baltimore and was all over the line of scrimmage and the backfield causing disruptions.
