Personally.
I’m not going to say it’s on the brink, but boy is the needle favoring that direction.
This is not just a lament over the many-years’ woes of our football operation. This is mostly about the current product.
I’ve been thinking a fair bit about one question as of late:
“If the modern, extremely flawed (in terms of officiating paradigm, competitive integrity, and defensively neutered) NFL product was what for sale in my youth, would I have bought in?”
Honestly, after a lot of thought, I feel I can confidently confirm “no...no I would not have.”
That confirmation to self has also made me evaluate how much resilience my NFL interest has left...not a ton...and waning.
I can easily see a scenario in the next few years where not only am I barely watching football (in real time) that isn’t Bucs...but I can easily see an unceremonious walk-away from the game as a leisure pursuit. I just don’t enjoy it that much at all.
So I’m curious what folks’ answer to the above question would be:
If this modern game was the football of your youth, would you have bought in?
