Former NFL RB houses 145 families through his charityBy Chelena Goldman  10/14/15 Dunn_Zpsaixblqas.jpgWarrick Dunn gave much of his NFL career to the Tampa Bay Bucs, and continues to give back to the Tampa community today. Al Messerschmidt/Getty ImagesHe gave it his all on the gridiron, and retiring from football hasn’t stopped Warrick Dunn from giving back to the community. The former NFL All-Pro running back has successfully “helped his 145th single parent become a homeowner” as part of his Warrick Dunn Charities, the New York Daily reports via FOX 13 News. The milestone was reportedly met two weeks ago.Dunn1_Zpss7Bnviut.pngDunn’s ‘Homes for the Holidays’ initiative, in conjunction with Habitat for Humanity, reportedly helped single mom Xeniya McBroom and her daughter move into a fully-furnished home. The non-profit also reportedly donated a $5,000 down payment on the home. The charity doesn’t stop there. While Dunn contributed the down payment, McBroom had to take money-management training through Habitat for Humanity before qualifying to buy the home, FOX 13 News reported back in September. Her monthly mortgage payments on the house will reportedly go back to Habitat for Humanity to help build more homes.Dunn started the Warrick Dunn Charities, Inc. back in 1997 during his rookie season with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The non-profit was setup in memory of his mother, Betty Smothers, a Baton Rouge police officer who "was killed during an off-duty assignment," the charities' website explains.link
