Ellis would be a great addition to the Bucs rotation. I am not sure he would start but he can produce some sacks and pressures as a rookie.
In both of those games the offense had us competitive.
+1
so much of the focus is on Mayfield but we lose the Lions game because our D can’t stop them.
Kind of has me thinking CB at 26 (and maybe later)…depends on how it falls.
but DT is much deeper than oLB/EDGE, so I’m thinking that may be check strategy.
As soon as I say all that, I’m confronted with which iOL might drop to blow up my theory.
At this point, it really still depends on who is still there.
I think it can go either way with the Bucs first three picks: DB, interior OL and edge but no particular order.
But that 3b draft pick is where the Bucs can go in any direction it seems: RB, WR, TE, LB, QB.

i mean the QB pick would be upsetting. We already have Trask as the developmental guy with years experience.
with our top 5 picks, in no order, only acceptable positions would be C, OG, DL, Edge, CB, ILB and to lesser extent - WR, TE, RB
we have some real holes in the positions listed that would be surprised if we chose a 3rd round or worse QB that more likely than not wont amount to anything.
not saying Baker has 3 years to become the guy, but he at the very least this year should be given a shake and if he sucks this year, you look for a real solution next year to compete and possible take the job from him. A 3rd or later draft pick unlikely to do that.
but there's a difference of opinion as to the holes on the team. i view the offense as more of the 5-1 stretch run and that they will build off that and regency bias to the defensive collapse against Detroit. Others will view the whole season which is good in theory but since the team was so bi polar through the various stages, it's hard to gauge how to view it. I optimistically am going with how the team was playing last 2 months.

Good. This is.
I can't rule out QB selection with the Bucs because of a new coaching staff. Plus, Trask may not want to stick around in TB and seek other opportunities in the near future.
From my view the team needs to really focus on trenches early and then fortify skill positions later on for development at WR, CB, TE and RB. Need interior OL to keep Mayfield clean and to allow for a run game inside. Also need pressure from the edges and a better interior DL rotation.
It pisses me off how a QB like Goff, talented but not top tier, has been able to shred the Bucs defense both with the Rams and the Lions. This alone is good reason to draft someone who can pressure the QB, and someone who can cover WRs on those short-medium routes. IMHO those kinds of routes are damn hard to cover, so pressure on the QB is a higher priority.

Which is why I think the Bucs are going to make it an effort again to emphasize defensive players that can bring pressure with this draft as well. They did that last draft with Kancey, Diaby, Dennis, and Ramirez. Hayes was the lone defensive player that was drafted that is not a pass rusher but that also shows the team really wants to add more DBs that can play inside nickel or safety.
So yeah more pass rushers whether edge, DL or ILB along with NCB/S are definitely top targets for the Bucs on defense tomorrow.
