Dungy's favorite phase sums up my thoughts on this years Bucs.Lovie Smith has a plan. You might not like it. It might be boring. It's definitely conservative. But if the players executed it properly on Sunday, the Bucs would have won.Since he was hired in January, Lovie has stressed that they must win the turnover battle. Not only can they not turn the ball over, but they must force takeaways. Since the first preseason game, Lovie said the Bucs defense has to stop dropping interceptions. Watching the game Sunday, I was pissed that they didn't attempt a 53 yard field goal or go for it on 4th and 1 in the 4th quarter. But both of those decisions helped put the Bucs in position to win the game. We lost because the players broke Lovie's two biggest rules. If Goldston catches that interception, it's game over. Bucs win. If Rainey doesn't fumble, the Bucs still had a great chance. Buc Ball is back. The wins might be boring, but if the players execute Lovie's plan, they should come in bunches.
