Last year, the RG position, manned by Caleb Benenoch negatively impacted the whole offensive line, especially Demar Dotson and Ryan Jensen.
This offseason, Benenoch made the switch to Right Tackle and the future at Right Guard was put into the hands of Alex Cappa. The Buccaneers drafted Cappa in the late third round of the 2018 NFL Draft. The team did bring in veteran Earl Watford to compete with Cappa, but Watford has never been a top Guard throughout his NFL career.
Unfortunately, the Buccaneers weren’t overly impressed with Cappa’s development during OTA’s and are worried he isn’t prepared to be the starting right guard. That leaves me wondering whether or not the team will look to make a similar move to what they did back in 2014 with Logan Mankins.
