As of Week 9 of the 2025 season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ran the ball on first down 120 times, compared to 170 passing plays on first down. This results in a run-pass ratio of approximately 41% run to 59% pass on first down. Gotta love AI
just looking quickly, if you take out the last drive we are something like 8 passes to 5 runs on 1st down. Some of those 1st down runs were 11, 11 and 13 yards. One was -2, I think
I didnt look but the Pats are probably closer to 50-50
Licht made a good decision in not trading away any picks for more talent. This team isn’t ready. They are slightly above average team. For 3 years we haven’t been able to pressure the QB without blitzing. Baker is also slightly above average. Our stars are old or hurt. It’s cool to get a playoff game every year. But we have no shot in the playoffs against the Rams, Lions, and probably not even the Eagles right now. Here’s to mediocrity!
If we had made a move for a LB then we don't need to draft a LB. The idea that picks are a guarantee is silly...
Watch what the eagles have done lately. You land some good picks then you burn your late picks and stack up.
Either way, Licht is sticking to his plans and he's been good lately so I'll trust it...

I think it's less about whether we run it vs the design of the run.
It's also the runs on second to set up a guaranteed third that drive me nuts.
Then third and 3 at midfield and we throw.
Grizz doesn't have a skill to find rhythm and keep them off balance. And he's the third down specialist yet our third down is awful.
If you are going to pass on 1st down it should be a safe short, reliable pass most of the time. Throwing downfield and starting out 2nd and 10 puts you in a jam. It makes it tough to run on 2nd down and be stuck in 3rd and long. We had some good runs by White where it would be 2nd and 5. That's virtually guaranteeing another first down is on the way.As of Week 9 of the 2025 season, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers ran the ball on first down 120 times, compared to 170 passing plays on first down. Egbuka was the ONLY legit weapon so they would try to take him away and he STILL had 100+ and a TD
Why do you keep saying this? White and Tez are very much weapons. Otton is solid.
Are our weapons worse than the Patriots right now?
They have old ass Diggs, Mack Hollins, a speed slot guy, an old TE, and the WSU rookie.
The problem is play calling... You keep excusing it but it's the truth.
Another example. So often we see these runs to the short side of the field with a slow RB in White...or we see out routes to the long side of the field. Small window type throws. High difficulty.
You know what Coen knew what to do well? Find rhythm for his QB and play to his strengths.
Grizz does neither of those things... I don't understand your relentless pursuit to apologize for coaching malpractice.
Do you think a third and 9 bubble screen to Sheppard is a good play? If you're on defense you love that. Sheppard can barely stay upright running a route. He's not breaking any tackles

I like Tez but compare that to Evan, Godwin, JMac and Otton and Irving.
JUST THINK LIKE THE OPPOSING DEFENSIVE COORDINATOR.
Our passing game is basically two rookies and Shepard. Egbuka is great and Tez is good, but other than Egbuka there is no one that defenses have to game plan. No one is game planning White or Tucker or Shepard or Tez or Otton. Our offense was once great because you had to game plan for Evans and Godwin, 1A and 1B. TWO great receivers. We have, at best, one.
In the SB days (since this is supposed to be SB team) we had THREE plus a WORLD CLASS TIGHT END
(and our O-line is SHIT by attrition)

Exactly.
And, good OC's take advantage of that.

So why are the Patriots doing more with less?
Egbuka > Diggs
Otton = Henry (slight edge to Otton based on age)
Hollins > Sheppard (is he idk...?)
Tez = Douglas (slight edge to to Tez imo)
Henderson > White (strictly on talent)
Godwin, Evans, Bucky out
Stevenson and Boutte out
So we are missing more but they have arguably less...
Our lines are even. We have 1.5 stars and they have none.
So again I ask, what are we game planning against? Old ass Diggs?
For some odd reason, we gave up 3 long ass tds and 2 on the ground. Very uncharacteristic
and offense putting up 23 is the difference between winning and losing
need to put up 30 to continuously win in this league
The problem is play calling... You keep excusing it but it's the truth.
I mean, to each their own but how are 2025 losses about play calling BUT the putrid offensive production during the three 2024 "no Evans games, no Godwin" games were about . . .no Evans and Godwin? The scoring dropped off a cliff for those 3 games so are you saying that Coen forgot how to call plays for three games? When we played the 49ers last season were you on the board posting "BUT WE'VE GOT WHITE AND OTTON and they are WEAPONS?"
How do you reconcile those two inconsistent concepts?
Come on man.

Bingo.
With the holes we have (and the obvious ones we'll have next year), I don't want to part with any premium draft capital.
Gonna need to invest premium picks into LB, OG, and WR (among others).
