What is the 2020 record without Brady and the guys who brought with him?
What's your record as a former GM?
Perhaps 5-100? Seems about right.
Teddy Bridgewater was plan B in 2020. What is the 2020 record without Brady and the guys who brought with him?
When you want so badly to criticize the GM that you make up your own reality to ignore the Super Bowl he won.
"sure .. a Super Bowl ... that plan B tho"
If my aunt had wheels she'd be a go kart
yeah listen Licht is far from perfect. And as much as some may want to discount 2020 Superbowl because of Brady, we dont win a superbowl with out Licht's drafts
think about the key contributors/supporting players on that run - all Licht picks - Evans, Donovan Smith, Ali Marpet, Godwin, Vita Vea, Ronald Jones, Carlton Davis, Alex Cappa, Jordan Whitehead, Devin White, Sean Murphy Bunting, Jamel Dean, Mike Edwards, Scotty Miller, Tristian Wirfs, AWJ, Tyler Johnson.
now, alot of those players may not have worked out in the long run, but for that run, they were all key contributors. We dont win without them.
Now, while i think Bowles needs to be replaced, i think Lichts seat should be warm. He better get this hire right or i think he is shown the door with the next coach.
his drafts have been lackluster minus a few
2014 to 2017 - brutal. He managed to get guys like Evans and Godwin, whiffed on Jameis which happens when you take a flier on a QB, got some supporting roles with Smith and Marpet but really was ass, particularly the 2016 draft with Hargreaves and Aguayo
2018 to 2020 - Awesome. This is where we thought he maybe turned the corner on his talent evaulation - almost all the guys mentioned above came within this 3 year span.
2021 - Brutal. WTF was that? a back-up QB projected to be a back-up QB, a kick returner, and a flier on a development edge rusher. Brutal
2022 -2025 - EHHH. This is where JC5100 is coming from. We got Goedeke, McMillian, Bucky Irving, and Emeka Egbuka in these 4 drafts. that's pretty said. Other guys include Logan Hall, Rachaad White, Cade Otton, Zyon McCollum, Calijan Kancey, Cody Mauch, Yaya Diaby, Sirvocea Dennis, Graham Barton, Tykee Smith, Ben Morrison and Jacon Parrish. So far all of thes guys rank in the replaceable category
Licht should be on the hot seat and 2026 should be first offseason in a while where he should have ample money to improve the team. It seems from a free agency perspective other than Reddick and Mayfield, have not done much from an external view point in the last 3 seasons.
to me, Bowles is replaced this year, Licht gets to pick his coach and if this new coach doesnt work out, you then look to potentially upgrade GM then. But, given the Superbowl win and consecutive playoff streak, despite a poor head coach, Licht gets one more crack at it.
Teddy Bridgewater was plan B in 2020. What is the 2020 record without Brady and the guys who brought with him?
Doesn't matter, because he DID bring in Brady and all those other guys with him. That's what good GM's do. Can't pick and choose what counts and what doesn't just to fit your agenda. He did it end of story. Would we have won a superbowl in 2002 without the Glazers stepping in to grab Gruden? Do we win a SB without Arians or Licht ? Licht built that talent on this team that caused Brady and Arians to want to come here.
It certainly matters. Is the problem 4 different head coaches or is it the GM?

So ONE reason Licht should be fired . . ACCORDING TO YOU . . . is that the Super Bowl win is negated by a QB that Licht didn't even sign? Because he got Brady over Bridgewater?
Thats your argument?

My argument is that from 2014-2019 the Bucs averaged 6 wins per season under 3 different head coaches, 2 of which had success on other teams. Now we're 7-9 and everyone is blaming the coach. His 2014-2019 body of work was horrendous. He even admits it. We won because of Brady. Not because of Licht. Not because of Arians. Because of Brady. When people push back on it I ask what our record would have been with Bridgewater and nobody wants to answer because they know we would have sucked.
Now we're back to bad drafts and non impact free agent signings and back to losing. Just like under Lovie. Just like under Koetter. Just like 2019 with Arians. It doesn't matter who the coach is if he's going to put this level of talent on the field. Alot of the players are bad. Really bad.
I ask what our record would have been with Bridgewater and nobody wants to answer because they know we would have sucked.
or, they know . . Licht got Brady and company
If your point is that the pre-Brady roster was not that good . . Brady even disagrees with that.
Licht certainly plays a part in the current state of the team but in no way is it "Licht, not Bowles."

The pre-Brady roster was so good the season was over in October with BA. So good. Such a good roster.

The pre-Brady roster was so good EXCEPT FOR WINSTON the season was over in October with BA.
So, the head coach Licht coaxed out of retirement to things around, starting with evaluating Winston, successfully turned things around, but to you that is a knock on Licht because even though they won a Super Bowl they didnt win with Winston?
It sort of feels like you are falling into holes you dug to fill other holes in your argument

We all know what the issue was with that team. The guy who threw 30 interceptions, lost 5 fumbles and took 47 sacks.
You think Brady chose to come here for the weather?

Brady turned things around. Brady is gone and now we're reverting back to pre-Brady. Licht is the constant.

Think you just killed your own argument with this statement. If it was all Brady, and not Arians or Licht, then why was Brady's only losing season during Bowles his first year at the helm? I realize this is an indictment to Bowles as it should be, but that completely disproves " that it was Brady" not the combo of talent( that Licht assembled) coupled with, Arians coaching, and Brady and company's play that brought the Superbowl home to Tampa. If that was the case then there should have been at two additional trophies that should be in the case at OBP then...but it further goes to show that coaching matters.
