That's right, LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME - IM THE CAPTAIN NOW!
It's past victory Monday, Branch is suspended, and Beatles is PISSED that BUF shat the bed against our ATL rivals, So i'm wasting no time gettin' us into Lion-skinnin' mode!
Now, I've only been back here a little while, but for those of you that don't remember me, Hello! I'm Beatles, and I'm a veteran member who's been here since way back in 2010. Back when Biggs and DH weren't the only controversial members. Back when we had a user named Michael, who would post so many articles on the bucs per day that we swore he was a damn robot. In those days, nonsensical phrases like "Youngry", "Race to 10" and "Josh Freeman is pretty good, I think we may have something here!" were on our minds weekly, and how fitting it is that we discuss the lions this week, because as it just so happens, it was in that very season that we faced Detroit with a playoff spot nearly in our grasp at the time. We would have one too, if not for a bogus PI! But that's ancient history. Let's talk a little LESS ancient: We still owe these powder blue bastards a beating for ending our playoff run in '24 -- "But Beatles!" I hear you type, "We beat them later in September that year!" Yes, and STILL the wound isn't healed! We must beat them AGAIN, and I for one will not be satisfied unless we do. Let's not lose sight of the fact that they're still ahead in our all time series 33-30-0! A meaningless number, or is it THREE meaningless numbers?! These are the questions we need to ask ourselves!
Okay, all jokes aside: We MUST win this game. The rest of the south has been quietly getting its collective shit together, and if we fall to 5-2, we'll be in prime position for those FFFFFFFFFFFUCKING RAT BIRDS to come waving their Penix all over the division in a few more games, and no one wants that!
So! Since you all seem to be doing those "Bucs win if" thingies every week, I'll start us off with mine! Here are my way-too-early "Bucs/Lions Win if" takes!
Bucs win if:
- We score more points than the Lions at the end of 4 quarters
This is a big one. It could be important. We'd be wise to try it.
- We wear kneecap guards while within Detroit city limits
They can't bite off what they can't chew!
- Tez Johnson does another flip and its even cooler
I think he should try three in a row. The Lions wouldn't possibly be able to handle that kind of power!
- Mike Evans returns
I mean, they can't double ALL our guys. Not anymore. Even if Mike is guarded most of the game, as long as he frees up Tez, Shep, or Cameron we should be okay
- Baker keeps being Baker
Need i say anymore? He's the best thing to happen to us in years that wasn't Brady-related. Keep letting him loose, run the offense, and don't get him hurt. Which leads me to...
- The Oline does it's job
We can't slack on their D. It'll pound us good if we don't have protection. Pause.
- The Refs aren't piss drunk like they've been for the past few weeks
HOW WAS IT NOT A FUMBLE, REFS?! HUH?! THE BALL WAS BOBBLED! THE BALL WAS FUCKI-
- We bounce a ball off a helmet again
It worked once!
- We don't turn the ball over
This is what cost us against the Fleagles. We should be 5-0 right now!
Lions win if:
- We score fewer points than the Lions at the end of 4 quarters
This is a big one. It could be important. We'd be wise not to try it.
- Barry Sanders comes out of retirement
It could happen, and we don't want that. He was scary!
- Dan Campbell eats our entire bench
He looked hungry against KC. The Chiefs keep Reid motivated this way too.
- Tez Johnson does another flip and its even cooler (and fails)
Last thing we need is another injury. PRACTICE THE LANDING, TEZ!
- We run too many plays that cause Todd Bowels to have that weird, confused looking smirk on the sideline
Listen man, when that face comes out that's the face of a man who's running too many programs at once in his internal OS. Usually when he gets like that he finds a way to reboot from safe mode after the half and get things working again, but if it's in the third quarter and he's made that face two or three times already, we could be in trouble.
- The refs remember 2010
"HEY, BOB! GET A LOAD OF THIS! I WAS JUST ON PEWTER REPORT THIS WEEK: YOU REMEMBER WHEN..."
That's it from me. Lets exploit Branch being out and get to 6-1! GO BUCS!
when I saw our schedule my first thougth was lions, rams and bills are probable losses, let's get 11 wins out of the rest.
now we play first of those games and we do not have our top 4 WRs and RB1 is out as well. goedeke is injured as well ... out pass defense sucks, no need to talk about that any more. baker will have to put well over 30 onto the board to give us the chance and I am not sure how he can do that with shepards and johnsons!
but let's play and have fun!!!

agreed but thats what has made this run that much more enjoyable. Each week, can they do it.
This one is a tough one
Bucs will not win this game.
Lions coming off a loss, we MAY have Evans back but likely on snap count.
think we were 5.5 point underdogs last i checked
that being said, and hopefully a win against Saints the following week and we are 6-2 halfway through. not too shappy...particularly with the last 6 games all being very winnable.

Yeah, I'd feel a little better if Detroit had beaten KC. Plus, Tampa is due a clunker. It's the NFL.
That secondary without Branch is very vulnerable. Bucs have a shot with the way Mayfield is tossing the ball downfield. The problem is I am not sure how the right side of the OL will hold up against Aidan and the rest of Detroit's front seven players.
I honestly feel good about this game IF we can get Zyon back. Parrish on St. Brown with Dean/Zyon on Jamo will be good a match-up and I can say for the first time we have corners that can man up one some of the best.
Lions secondary is depleted and with Branch missing time they'll be down another starter. So it will be back-up WR's v back up CB's and our back-ups played well last week. I'm not counting on them to be great every week but we got a good chance to still put up pts IF the OL can hold up. Hutchinson has potential to shut the whole operation down though so we'll see what the game plan will be.
Bucs win this if Bowles gives us a B-range game.
Bucs 27
Lions 23
Ugly game

especially with all the Baker MVP talk and us probably being #1 in everyone's power rankings!
but who knows we have defied everything so far against historical Buc norms
Baker calling out “rat poison” indicates he’s not letting that get to him - love this team’s attitude. It’s not about any particular player, no ego’s getting in the way. No adversity, these guys are just doing their jobs. Baker definitely has a target on him - especially that pump fake/dead leg stuff Baker does. Hutchinson is going to be a problem, but feeling better about that as at least the left side of the line is solid. Glad we didn’t face them earlier when the make-shift line was trying to scheme a way to keep Baker upright.Bucs will not win this game.

Are we due a clunker? Sure, and if it happens, we’ve built a little bit of space in our record. Back half of the season looking a bit tougher after watching what the Falcons, Panthers, and even Saints have done to some pretty good teams lately - but they haven’t got ANY tape of out real offense yet either! No one has had to scheme a defensive plan to handle Mike, CG, Egbuka, JMac, AND Bucky!
This could be an EPIC run! LETS GO!
Nobody scares me on the rest of this schedule!!

+1
Love it. Go Bucs!

to me, the Bucs will be underdogs in maybe 3 more games this year - @DET, @BUF, and @LAR
This team could be 13-4, particularly if we play like we've been and defying the odds of Buc norms
We should beat the Saints next week and i'd argue Patriots at home coming off a bye is ours to lose as well; that gets you to 7-2
Buffalo and LAR look beatable but even if we chalk that up as losses you are at 7-4.
then we have 6 games that honestly 6-0 is the expectation and 5-1 is worst case scenario - V ARZ, V NO, V ATL, @CAR, @MIA, CAR
so that's 12-5 or 13-4 as the expectations. 13-4 and we have a real shot at the #1 seed; we trip up against one of our divisional opponents and go 12-5 then yeah likely not the #1 seed.
Detroit and Philly likely only teams in the running for that #1 seed and in this scenario we would not have the tie breaker.
in any event, one game at a time! Let's get Evans back for Monday and we have a shot. Without Evans, Egbuka, Bucky, Godwin, etc.; then yeah, Baker will put up a fight but we may fall short by a field goal or 6 points.
We should beat the Saints next week
Definitely and I agree with your post. I am always wary of a let down though and the Saints game is one that could be
We have to get Mike back this week. We NEED our receivers if we're gonna stand a chance.
Ugh, look at us! Playoff runs since 2020 and we can't even act like we belong. Listen to how preconditioned we are to losing. This sucks! We're 4-1! We should feel more confident than this! EFF THE LIONS! BUC EM!
