i don't really sportsbet but I read the posts and like I said some of the thought behind the bets seemed to make sense. But then the game doesn't make sense ie didn't play out like one might expect.

What do you mean all the bets in this thread were losers? i posted two that were winners.
And for me at least, sportsbetting is just for entertainment. Well, mostly entertainment, but my annual goal is to win enough to pay for X-Mas gifts that year. I've got 10 godchildren, so anything helps, lol.
I put $400-$500 in before the season starts (this year I started with $400), and when it's gone, I'm done. And while I have had good seasons where I won more than what I put in, most years I either break even or I lost. Last year was a bad year for me and I was out by thanksgiving. The idea for me is to try and make it to the playoffs with some $$ left, which I manage a bit more than half the time.
Trick is not to chase losses. Can't get emotional about losing a bet/week, then try to make it back on one bet or in one weekend. Kind of like football. Can't try to throw a 2-TD pass when you're down a couple scores. Gotta chip away at it; start small with a couple quick passes or good runs, and work up from there.

Yeah, that's my 'big swing' bet. I have a 'safe' bet, that's basically the same bet but subtract the spread and the ATTDS. Drops it to +140something. But every one of those legs is at least an 80% probability, so it's pretty safe. I've hit on 5 similar bets this season, though 2 of them were 3-leggers, so the ROI was around +125 or less.
Also have a 15 legger for tonight/$15, all -450 legs or better. I think it worked out to +5917. it'll never hit but I'm curious how close to right i'll be.
My bets were losers because they were parlays but I also played them individually to hedge and I came out having bet 100 and lost 30. Meh...
Either way, my last two weeks I've been below average but it's all money I can afford to lose so I don't sweat it.
