It took me a few days to process yet another loss. Just don’t tell Bowles that I’m “getting used to losing.”

The defense showed improvement on Monday night. They finally allowed their four-man rush to make an impact while playing coverage with seven. We had success with this strategy against the Lions, and it seems that when we play from behind, simplifying the game plan helps our players read and react more effectively.

Listening to the Manning Monday Night Broadcast during the second quarter was enlightening, especially with Coach Belichick joining in. Both Eli and the Coach made several observations about how open some receivers were, with Eli noting he’s never seen players that wide open. Coach seemed at a loss for words a few times.

We’re wasting Vea’s prime. For the past few years, he hasn’t had the necessary support to force quarterbacks to step up into the pocket where he can make his mark. It would be a shame if we don’t provide him with a strong edge next season.

Baker performed admirably throughout the game. Bucky has the ability to make a play every time he touches the ball. However, Bowles calling a timeout when we reached the 2-yard line with 33 seconds left was embarrassing; the Chiefs would have handled that differently. And let’s not forget—Hayes isn’t a corner. Winfield has not played well this season, especially considering he’s the highest-paid defensive back in the NFL. It’s time for Coen to take over as head coach next year.
