Winston gave a detailed answer but dropped a somewhat bizarre line about getting coached/not coached for the private sessions with teams.Here’s the exchange:Charles Davis: Do you think you both accomplished what you needed to accomplish, you Jameis interview-wise, teams grilling you?Jameis Winston: I believe I accomplished what I needed to do. Because, you know, I just came in trying to be real, you know, be as genuine as possible. Real recognizes real. So if you’re talking to a grown man, you’re just being straight up up front with him, you know accepting the past but telling him you’re just trying to earn his trust, I mean you can’t do nothing but respect that.Davis: How tough was it during that time? Did it get really tough at all in the interview room, or was it pretty straight-forward?Winston: It wasn’t tough at all. Like I said, I was being real. I wasn’t trying to put on no show or anything. I didn’t even get coached up like I should have got coached up. You know, I just took responsibility for everything and I just was real.So was Winston annoyed by his handlers not coaching him up properly? Or was Winston referring to shunning coaching by his representatives and just trying to be himself?Joe’s not sure what’s better.Draft genius and Packers general manager Ted Thompson made an interesting point last week about prospects getting heavily coached up for pre-draft interviews. Thompson said he’s good with it because it shows a player is coachable, a key component to NFL success.
