You know what I find strange?
That people - reporters and even posters on this message board - seem to want to emphasize that Suh played with Donald last year. And, the implication that has been hypothesized... about his playing with Donald... is that Suh might not, in fact, be all that good... and that Donald made him look better than he really is. The hypothesis has been Suh's reduced QB pressures and sacks last season indicate that his play is in decline.
Here's the obvious omission from this theory... while playing next to Suh, Donald had far and away his best year as a professional. Donald had 20 sacks last year, which is, nearly double his next best sack total (11). He had 25 TFL... which surpassed his previous years (18, 22, 17, 15). He also had the most QB hits in his professional career.
It's just weird that so many reporters have failed to report on this. Obviously, if Suh wasn't really good, then Donald wouldn't have had a career year.
Unless Suh has mysteriously become a much worse player in the last few months, we can expect that he will significantly elevate the play of the other defensive linemen.
I see this as a reason for optimism.
