Barring injuries. We will win the south. Just a different look about this team when im watching in the preseason. The little things, the movement the extra pushes the never die mentality til the whistle is blown. A well mannered group of killers is what i see. We have an edge to us and I like it.
The trenches is what has been greatly upgraded Barton has been a stud in the middle and thats gonna let Baker Bake for 30+ Tds this year his problem was a clean pocket last year(its why I liked trask last year he's a taller qb that can throw over the middle) but thats been addressed. Kancey,Diaby are gonna break out, secondary will have woes but less with whitehead winfield. Coen's run game will help us close out wins when we ahve our lead.
If we stay focus/humble/healthy I see an NFC championship game in our future this year.
Of course I can be really wrong, but we should dominate washington week 1 and find out what we are against the Lions week 2
Love the optimism
we were definitely a surprise team last year. Not many expected us to be a playoff team without Brady; then we actually win a playoff game to boot
I question if we would be a surprise team after last year. Sure, many are picking the falcons but still many pundits picking us for the division
With todd Bowles at head coach and baker mayfield at QB - both of which have had roller coaster of careers, i understand why Vegas is hedging their bets with a low over under win total
I sure hope you're right MIC. This team has loads of potential. The schedule is tough, but win the games you should win, and win some of those 50/50 games, and win some of those underdog games to set up well for the playoffs.

Schedule is brutal
Don’t want to have games like Baltimore, 49ers or chiefs being “must wins”
need to go 4-0 in games like Washington, broncos, raiders and giants
need to go 4-2 in division
that gets you to 8-5 with 4 games we will be underdogs in - Detroit, Philly, Chargers and Dallas.
split those and we are a dangerous 10-7 team in the playoffs
I think both the Bucs and Falcons will get 10 or 11 wins and at least a WC for both.
Panthers will improve to about 5 wins and could steal one from the Bucs.
Saints will fall off the cliff this year to about 3 or 4 wins. They'll be vying for a QB in the draft who will sit behind Carr for a year. They have some guys getting long in the tooth like Kamara, Jordon and Lattimore along with an uninspiring HC. They'll have to hit the reset button.
Before I fall into outright optimism, I’m going to need some data that shows the moves made this offseason made us better. Not just better than last season, but did we do enough to compete with those in our division who committed massive resources to improve exponentially - but also - did these moves put us on more equal footing with teams like Detroit or San Francisco?
If we’re moving forward, we have to prove we can compete with the NFC gatekeepers. At the end of last season we were competitive with Detroit, but not quite good enough. They were competitive with San Francisco, but not quite good enough, etc.
A case can be made that we didn’t have as much ground to make up as our division rivals…the same case cannot be made concerning Detroit or San Francisco. They were better than our Bucs AND they improved. The road to the NFC Championship still runs through Detroit & San Francisco (and maybe Philly and Dallas).
I want to see improvement, get to that next level. I am excited, we have already seen some improvement on the interior of the line, deeper running back & WR rooms, and a retooled defense with some depth at critical spots. Is it enough? I can’t answer that yet.
I’m not trying to talk anyone out of their enthusiasm, but for me, I just need to see real game performance in the first 3 or 4 games before I make that jump into fanzone. Cuz right now, I have this nagging thought that we’re still a year away.
Bucs are flying under the radar once again but....

They are the measuring stick for the Bucs. The Eagles were the gatekeepers of the NFC but the Bucs overcame them. Bucs have to show they can overcome the Lions and 49ers which I think they can but they have to prove it.

Huh?
New upgrade at OC.
Improved O-Line. Upgrade in the WR room. Infusion of new talent at RB.
Kancey and Diaby in their 2nd year with more snaps. Added additional youth at edge and NCB.
According to many on here, Cousins is washed, NOLA is falling off the face of the earth, and Carolina won't be competitive until 2032.
5th easiest schedule in the NFL.
10-7 should be the floor, barring major injury.
Trench play is why were gonna win, Barton is a probowl/all-pro in the making. His smarts, understanding of leverage/angles/movement has all been very very noticeable on film, To see this teams mentality shift, you gotta take a deep dive and watch every guy individually. It's going to bleed into the offense. We got some nasty big men and this looks like a different team from last year
We're gonna get what we get from a Bowles defense but this offense is revamped. I know its enthusiasm now but I wanna say its gonna be fact in a few weeks. My eyes are telling me this is highend football.

Well, all three are on the schedule, opportunities await.

While true I still give the Lions and 49ers the edge with their respective trenches.

Yup which is why we need Kancey and Barton to really transform this team to a force in the NFC. They were kind of that way late in the season but they have to be more consistent IMO.

i mean if we are looking at this realistically, we just don't seem to be in the same category as the class of the NFC
Teams i'd say we are not in their league:
49ers - class of the NFC. we got smoked by 13 points last year and the 49ers made Superbowl last year. They are just a more talented team.
Lions- lost by 14 points on our own turf when we met in the regular season and we were sitting at 3-1 at the time. Met again in the playoffs and kept it close until the 4th quarter. Feel like Detroit kept us in the game with drops, etc. and they moved the ball freely against us. Week 2 will be a good first test for us but hard to say we are in the same league as we enter the season
Teams i'd say are above us entering the season:
Eagles - Yeah we kicked their ass in the playoffs but that team quit with 2 months left in the season. They handled us pretty easily on our home turf when we were 2-0. The Eagles added to their roster and looks to retool. I do think we can beat them obviously but just saying, they will likely be favored in our home match-up this season.
Dallas - I mean, the team can't win a playoff game to save their life and handled us pretty easily in Brady's final game. Dallas didnt have a great off-season but would you bet on us when we go to Dallas later in the year and try to win that game? Dallas likely will have a better record than us in the regular season but much like the Eagles, will be ranked higher than us but likely playing golf around the same time, give a game or so, as our team will be
Teams we are in the same field as:
Packers
Rams
Falcons
Saints
Bucs
so 9 teams and last year we were in the top 9 in the NFC with 4 teams having an 9-8 record. seems about right.
