Evans was able to get 1,000 yards with the likes of mike Glennon, Jamies Winston, Ryan Fitzpatrick and a diseased Tom Brady; I think he has a shot with baker mayfield
Evans has also signed multiple contracts with the team pre Tom Brady and he has a ring
if anything, I think he will want to stay in Tampa for legacy purposes
Going 2-14 when you're 30 hits a little different than doing it when you're 21.
i mean could Evans be tempted to play with somebody like Patrick Mahomes, sure.
but much like Levante David, there were rumors that Buffalo was interested yet he chose to stay in Tampa. I find it hard to believe other teams werent interested in his leadership and talent.
the price tag probably wasnt too far different and he chose tax advantageous, warm weather Tampa
I see Evans signing a contract with Tampa at $20M per year. He is getting up there in years and he wont command the $25-$30M
If Evans is willing to stay you make it happen.
Evans #s aren't "elite" anymore because he doesn't get the volume... he gets an arsenal of targets that are throw aways.
He doesn't get the manufactured touches...
He's a Randy Moss type player with Randy Moss type production...
And when you don't utilize his elite redzone size, of course his numbers will regress as will his PFF grade.
Plus he just played sub par last year... yet he still put up the numbers

that’s really well said. Agree.
Ironically, Moss playing with horrible QBs at the Raiders has a terrible year and at 30 years old (or close) he’s traded to the Patriots for a late pick (I think) where he goes on to have a great year or two.
hope that type of story doesn’t play out with Evans
I think Baker throws a pretty solid deep ball... he just struggles with progression and the mid range.
Evans didn't play well last year... there's no two ways about it... and Brady compounded that with how his play regressed.
We had the 25th ranked scoring offense...
And Evans still managed to produce... it's that simple... in a down year.
I don't expect him to get manufactured touched like Adams, Hill, Kupp etc but I do EXPECT him to get the manufactured red zone targets that for some odd reason Lefty ran away from as hard as he could.
And the season was so promising to start with the gritty road win vs Dallas where Evans caught that one handed fade.
Then we just abandoned it...
I don't expect him to get manufactured touched like Adams, Hill, Kupp
I agree.
However, I think while his target share will decrease, the quality will be superior to what he's seen the last several years.
Yeah I would hope so because I watched a ton of balls the Tom overthrew, or threw at his feet, or threw away in general...
That one in the red zone vs the Niners comes to mind.
I just want those red zone looks to tick way back up where he is at his best.

I hope so too, because I watched a ton of balls that Evans dropped, gave up on the route, quit on the play anticipating a flag for DPI, etc.
Watching more tape on the system(s) that Canales could possibly implement, we should see more schematically favorable situations/routes/etc. letting Mike operate in open space.
Would hate to have Evans rely on the deepball from someone like Baker.
He had some drops for sure but I think his frustration came from an offense that didn't allow him to find rhythm...because lefty was designing plays for others, especially in the red zone, but nothing for Evans...
It's always a combo of things. Brady had a bunch of errant passes because the line stunk and he struggled to step into throws. He also refused to take any hit whatsoever.
But Evans just had a ton of junk thrown his way AND he played poorly... but lefty made everything more difficult than it had to be... never saw any schemed open. It was so vanilla that Evans routes were easily read etc.

Agreed 100%

This is why not playing Scotty Miller was such a big issue. Safeties were aligned closer to the LOS and screwing down more often.

I bet Scotty Miller's agent wishes you actually were a GM. He would have already received a big money deal after that impressive 8.0 YPC stat last season, instead of flailing around in FA.
There are many times when M1K3's biggest contribution is drawing DPI. Hopefully the new OC and Mayfield can figure out how to get the ball to him.

And everyone with a brain wishes the Bucs used Scotty Miller at WR instead of all the wasted snaps Kieft, Brate and Gage got. Slowest and most compressed offense in recent memory. Got what they deserved.
