Clayborn had 19 TFL and 6 sacks. While he wasn't great getting to the passer, he was excellent against the run and I'd like to see how he does in a scheme that doesn't have him stunting all the time.

He had 6 sacks, but how many did he have taken away due to BS penalties protecting the QB. If he learns to not hit the QB in the helmet, he'd be a 8-10 sack/yr guy. I know on several occasions his pressuring the QB has led to broken up plays, too.  I think some people's expectations are skewed if they think every DE is going to be a perennial double digit sack guy.  Let's give him a chance with good coaching, and see what happens.  He's, at the very least, a very good rotational DE who's not costing the team a bunch of money.

i  actually agree with u here. i do think our defensive guys were being misused....heres the deal. first off if we use our corners the way they are supposed to be used the qb is gonna hold the ball longer. secondly, we will actually have coaches who will teach and coach our guys and not have them chasing guys in the corner of the end zone covering a running back. still to this day it pisses me off watching clayborn have to cover sproles...i mean are u freaking kidding me?? you honestly think thats a fair match to even ask him to do that. it just shows the incompetence of the prior staff. i think you will see guys rush the passer more effectively and i also think we will see our safeties play better as well. all in all i look for a brand of football to be established and it to work this time.

I think Clayborn will have a big 2014. I am ready to end the Bowers experiment though. I'm sure he'll get a chance in camp and preseason to prove he isn't the lazy slug he appears to be....but I don't think he loves the game of football and I don't think he makes the 53 man roster.

It's fine to say you don't think a guy is good or performing well, but I really don't think its fair to sit on your computer and attack a guy's personality or character when you don't know him or anyone around him. You don't hang out with him in the lockeroom or anything like that. Wait for comments from his teammates or coaches before you say that about a guy.

I judge Bowers off his actions. He showed up to camp over weight and has looked sluggish and uninterested all year including preseason. I followed him on twitter for awhile and he seems more interested in playing in his gospel band than he is in playing football. He is a public figure and plays a sport for a living so I will judge him. That is what fans do.As far as calling Clayborn garbage.....what an idiotic statement. Schiano had the poor guy running around like a LB half the time but he still managed 6 sacks and his 19 TFL was 4th best in the entire NFL. 4th. That is pretty fucking awesome in my book. With a better defensive scheme and Jared Allen or Justin Tuck at the opposite end next year, I expect a breakout year for Adrian.

Even though we don't agree on Glennon I do agree with you hear J Double lol, Clayborn even bashed Schiano on twitter saying he can't wait to put his hand in the dirt full time, I can't wait to see what Lovie can do with Clayborn using him and the majority of our defenders in the proper ways, with Bowers to me the guy just doesn't care enough, we'll see what happens with the new regime but if Lovie can't get the talent out of this guy than I don't think he will ever amount to anything.

You literally sound exactly like a bunch of fans who thought McCoy didn't care because he took fans to see movies and talked about superheroes on twitter. I don't get it because you were the same one agreeing with me and others that it's unfair to judge Manziel because we don't know him.

JD as much as i disagree with you i have to admit that i agree on the Clayborn statement. the opening thread bashed Clayborn for his lack of production, if you think about it wasn't his fault. he has a motor we all love and a heart that we would like on all our players. As far as Bowers I'm not giving up on him yet so one more year should do.

McCoy has been dedicated and flashed greatness since day one. There was doubt in many people's mind because of the inuries in his first two years, but I don't think anyone doubted his work ethic or his love for the game. In fact, McCoy showed just how important being great is to him by working hard to come back from two injuries in better shape than he was before them. You are comparing apples and oranges. Bowers will get one more chance. This time with a great HC and staff. If they can't get greatness from him then it's time to mark it down as yet another 2nd round bust and move on.

Bowers has been a monumental waste of potential and hope.  Im sorry, but when guys are professional athletes and show up out of shape to training camp, then yea I am pretty cynical about their dedication to their job.

Hard to argue with this...his apparent lack of dedication is what has rubbed many fans the wrong way but luckily for him there has been some question about coaching and he'll likely get another chance to prove he isn't really interested in playing pro ball.
