I do not mean to make excuses for our CBs, but I think they play better in man, not zone. I'd like to hear from Bowles on the decision to play so much zone yesterday, considering that's not the strength of his corners. PR's SR was on WDAE this morning and thought the reason for so much zone is because Bowles doesn't trust White or Neal in man.
valid point, not an excuse
I could be wrong but yes I think Bowles alluded to the part in bold, maybe without naming any players.
om the game winning touchdown to Dell it looks like Davis is playing outside and expecting Dee Delaney t help, but the underneath guy is covered so hard to say who its really on.
Bowles says it was Davis
Bowles acknowledged that Davis blew the coverage on Dell.
“That was his man, that was his play right there,” Bowles said. “Carlton is one of our players we rely on. He had a bad day.”

That would be an understatement.
Sherman's take
"“That’s a simple concept right there. That’s what’s frustrating about it for I’m sure Todd Bowles and his defense,” Sherman said. “… Double post in the red zone has, since Jesus was a baby, is what people are going to run. And if you’re running it with a quarter safety, you pass off the first [post], you get back to the second post and the play is dead. That’s what Carlton Davis was expecting on that play. He’s expecting inside help from my guy Dee Delaney. And he didn’t have it, that’s why Dee Delaney is jumping up and down. But you got to give C.J. Stroud all the credit in the world.”
Yeah looking at that play again, the leverage CD was playing - its telling he expected inside help. And that's what happens when you have people who aren't experienced and have game reps. We shouldn't even have Delaney being our coverage safety in the first place. Winfield can't be everywhere at once but when Neal can't cover it puts pressure on the next man. Bucs will need a safety again next year to replace Neal. Probably be best if we just mold and draft one like we did with Edwards/Whitehead.
i mean his ass better own up to that terrible performance.
one or two more of those and he is a cap casualty.
He's a loafer
I haven't seen that from Davis. He was beat a couple times yesterday, but it wasn't because of lack of hustle. Hell, he was the only one who running down Brown (from the other side of the field) when McCollum and Neal did their clown act routine. Now the tackle attempt was pathetic, but he at least did show effort in getting there. Nobody else did.
There are other guys in the secondary loafing, but Davis wasn't one of them that I saw. I could have missed something though. Give me a play and I'll check it out.
buffalo or phily could be both. Mesh concepts and casually jogs to the wr, coasting him out of bounds probably 10-15 extra yards. I'm not sure the time stamp but it he does it about 2-3 times in one of those games
Davis was so pathetic last week he needs a mental powder today
What a mentally weak player
I think we move on from CD after his contract, players who deal with turf toe are alwasy gonna have it affecting their game hard injury to recover from
I missed it... why was he out today?
Turf toe he’ll probably never not deal with it

Couldn't agree more. Needed a mental health day off after the ass-kicking he took in Houston.
